I was thinking back to when I was pregnant and the number of things I forgot to do or let’s just say the biggest possible brain farts possible and they were in the hundreds. I had them all!I had a few doozies during my first pregnancy let me tell you; however there is one that stands out and it’s pretty safe to say I will never live it down. EVER.
I was about 5 months pregnant, was working 10 hours a day 6 days a week as a chef. I was exhausted. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. Anyway, one afternoon I was starving – fading away to a thick shadow and so I did what any food deprived hormonal woman would do. I grabbed a frozen pizza out of the freezer and put it into the preheated oven. I impatiently waited 20 minutes before eagerly opening the oven door, at which point I was thrown on my thrown by a burning plastic smell.
Oh wait a second, what the fuck has happened? There is plastic melting everywhere. The smell was something that can only be described as toxic.
Yep that’s right, I had forgotten to remove the black plastic base before cooking the pizza. The smell never left the oven and after a few attempts of using it to cook dinner we soon realised the taste was never going to leave either.
So this baby brain moment was bought to you by a still left hungry and quite embarrassed bulging bellied girl.
What has your most memorable baby brain moment been?
Ahaha that is hilarious! I’m happy to say I’ve never done that. But I often forgot to put the handbrake on in the car, or close the front door at home when I went out!
Geez I wish that was the worse I’d done! Be careful with that brake though – you dont want your car rolling away
OMG! Sorry, but I just had to laugh! Can I just say, I still have baby brain 7 1/2 months AFTER having my baby! Yesterday I decided to move a small ‘ladder shelf’ at home and picked it up with things still on it, glass candles holders went smashing every where. What was I thinking? And to make it worse, I did it a second time only minutes later. I told myself I was such an idiot for not thinking it through. Baby brain for me was not being able to speak proper English! Half the time I couldn’t get the right words out!
hahaha yeah I too have not gotten over mine! Not sure I ever will, think it is here to stay unfortunately! Glad you got a laugh from it though!! Thank you for sharing your not so with it moment.
Haha, that was an excellent one. I don’t have anything to rival it. Rachel x
Rachel you are lucky you can’t beat it. It was aweful!! Thanks for the comment love
ohh my goodness… this is nuts.. but totally get the doing silly things while pregnant and starving! xx
Awful is how I would describe it but now I can laugh about it and say what a stupid thing to do!
Oh! I did that before in a shared house in the UK.. blamed it on the drunk guy that had left that morning
Hahaha why not! It was only me and the hubby so I had no one to blame but myself – well that and baby brain!
When I was preggers with my second I locked myself and my toddler out the house… on three separate occasions.Poor Hubby had to drive home to let us in and then go back to work. 1.5hr round trip.
He said if I did it again it would be ground for divorce!
Oh no! I could imagine why he would say it’s grounds for divorce. I wrote a post about getting locked out a couple of weeks ago. It should give you a laugh too
Thanks for sharing your baby brain moments with me.

Oh that’s bad! I had quite a few bad moments but the worst would be forgetting to turn off the hotplate after cooking dinner and well and truly smoking the house out. I reckon by the time I realized (I’d been in my bedroom watching tv, Mr.P was at work) it was only a few minutes from catching on fire. I’m lucky I didn’t burn the house down!
How lucky is it that you realised before disaster struck. Thank you for sharing your almost tragic story
I set the kitchen on fire. I always crave popcorn when I’m pregnant… which meant that I’d heat up the oil on the stove and then promptly forget about it. Needless to say we have a fire extinguisher now!
Oh no! Mmmm I do love me some pop corn though. I think it is probaby wise you keep an extinguisher on hand. Thanks for sharing your tragic baby brain moment.
With my first I was having a late night craving for apple pie. I had some frozen so I put a few in the oven. Three hours later I walked into the kitchen and could feel the heat. That’s when I remember I had them in there. I think I fell asleep after putting them in. Luckily my kitchen didn’t set on fire
Hahahaha yes I too have done that. Obviously prior to the melting plastic incident. Should have known then to stay away from the oven!! Thanks for commenting and sharing your story.
hahaha I laughed out loud when I saw that but then I felt sorry for you as I am assuming you were the one who had to clean it up.
Hahaha yes indeed I had to clean it up. Well try anyway. Thanks for commmenting Julia
Oh that is awesome! I don’t have anything nearly as good as that. Except for my when pregnant with my first and only a few weeks before she was born I was at work, selling mobile phones, got halfway through my spiel and forgot what I was talking about. The customer just rubbed my tummy and said don’t worry dear these things happen I guess you don’t have long to go and walked away
Hahaha well that sounds like it could have been abit awkward for you. Thanks for sharing Rhianna. xx
Ohh no! I have to admit that this IS totally hilarious, though. I know I did some ridiculous things while pregnant and I recall thinking “you’ll laugh at this later on” but, I can’t remember what they were!!
Oh it really is funny and I’m so glad I can laugh about it! Shame it didn’t happen to someone else and I could be the one reading about it but I’m glad it has made everyone laugh. You’ll remember next time you do something silly
Thanks for commenting Becky
Did you get a new oven? Baby Brain is the worst! Although most of my stupidest things happened after baby arrived and I was sleep deprived from midnight feedings.
I found you through Blog Star. Have a good week!
I am kind of ashamed but we didn’t! We just stopped using the oven and then moved. How bad is that? I am thankful I didn’t have anymore major ones after the bub was born. Thanks for commenting Marian. It’s great to have you visit
Hehehe! With my first pregnancy, I was forever leaving half drunk glasses of water in almost every room in the house. It would drive my brother (who lived with me at the time & was appointed head dish washer upperer) insane!!! lol
hahaha I still do that now Cass! Drives my husband up the wall too
So funny! I put the washing machine on, opening it up when it was finished only to find that I’d forgotten to put clothes in it. Also wore my glasses in the shower a couple of times
hahahaha it’s the little things that are too funny.
Brilliant! That made me laugh. My kids are 11, 8 and 6 now and I still feel like I have baby brain – like when I took the boys to their swimming lesson with their towels but no trunks. I also get endlessly confused by who is doing what when.
I swear the kids do stuff to confuse us!
I don’t remember my baby brain moments but I did have huge cravings for WeetBix (I normally hate Weetbix). Then proceeded to run straight to the toilet for a massive chunder…
How lucky are you not having done anything beyond stupid like I did. hahaha. Thanks for stopping by Grace.
Gosh I don’t remember any major ones but I know I had a few. I was so forgetful, my husband was constantly reminding me of things and did a spotcheck when I left the house. Keys? Check. Phone? Check? Wallet? Check. I also left the iron on a few times so he bought me one with an automatic switch off. Romantic. Nothing as bad as yours though!
hahahaha yes the forgetfulness is not the best thing about being pregnant. It is the funniest bit however
Haha oh dear. That smell while being pregnant probably would have turned me off pizza forever!
I didn’t do any major things though there was lots of putting the butter in the freezer and things like waiting for the kettle to boil when I hadn’t actually turned it on. Oh the things we do hey.
hahaha yeah putting things in the wrong place was always funny. Then when you finally find them you think why the hell did I do that?
OMG! I can smell it! Yuck.
My baby brain is such that I can’t remember any specific incidents, or that might be my current sleep deprivation!
hahaha yep the sleep deprivation sucks big time and yes the smell was horrible!! Thanks for commenting Lee
Hahhaaha That is awesome baby brain! My worst was putting my keys in the fridge, my milk in the pantry, and my dirty clothes in the bathroom cupboard!
I could only dream of my baby brain being that great! It wouldn’t have stunk or had long term effects like mine. Thanks for stopping by Laureny. xx
Happens to the best of us! Thanks for linking up for Flash Blog Friday
Thanks Bree! Great Linky
xx
I did that once too! Only I wasn’t pregnant, just not normally a buyer of frozen pizzas and I thought you were meant to cook them on the tray. Oops! The plastic melted all over the over trays too. Not fun to clean off.
hahahaha thanks Krystle
OMG! I’ve come close to doing that once but had a light bulb moment about 2 minutes in to the cooking process. Bloody funny though, Kell!
You are extremely lucky you realised! It was a bitch to clean.
Baby brain has taken over our house. Missing car keys, ovens left on, fridges open, handbags in the wrong place. I prefer to keep a slightly safe distance and quietly suggest where things might have been left… without sounding like I’m suggesting
