Do you donate to the Kmart Wishing Tree?

21/12/2013 By All Mum Said 1 Comment

So Christmas is here and like every year we hit the shops to find that perfect gift for our loved ones, friends, work colleagues, secret santas and even our pets but what about those in need? The Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal is a wonderful way to donate to those who otherwise wouldn’t get a gift at Christmas. I love that Kmart and the Salvation Army work closely for this cause and each and every year when we go to Kmart our children pick out a toy each to donate to the Wishing Tree. Donating a gift has more than one benefit; the kids learn about showing kindness, compassion and sacrifice to help someone less fortunate than them to enjoy something new for Christmas and bring a smile to their faces. The gift of giving has endless rewards.

It is so easy to do and we will continue to donate each and every year because I would like to think that if we happened to be in the position where we needed help and our children wouldn’t receive anything from Santa that the kindness of someone better off would be generous enough to help. Gifts don’t have to be purchased at Kmart and that is the beauty of this Appeal; Kmart aren’t in it for themselves – they are involved to help others.

Tis the season to be jolly and what’s more jolly than the reward of knowing you have made someone else smile!

I never fail – its a great idea and as a child growing up with nothing but a hungry belly I know how important it is
