When it comes to feeding babies and toddlers milk and/or formula there is always a lot of opinions that for some reason must be voiced. I breastfed both my boys for approximately 4-5 months before my supply couldn’t keep up with the guzzlers that I seem to breed. I had two options – to formula feed or let my babies go hungry. Common sense tells you which one I chose!

It’s so funny – I wonder if that’s what babies really think?
I had no idea which formula to use – do you know how many are out there? It all becomes a blur when you are standing in the baby isle of your local supermarket staring at all these tins that swear to be the best for your baby. So I did what any new Mum would do in this situation; I rang my dear Mum and asked her what she fed us when we were little. Would you believe that the one she recommended was still available to buy? Good old Nestle Nans Formula!
There are obviously more options available in their range now than what there was when I was little but I thought I’d give it a go and they certainly didn’t disappoint. The formula filled my babies up, didn’t cause them any pain from wind or make them sick; it was an all-round winner for us. They have since developed a toddler range of formula which I never got to experience with my boys but with ‘Squishy’ due in June I’m sure when the time comes for her to progress from breast to bottle we will continue using Nans. I trust it for my babies and I will continue to use it through toddler time as well if it is an option.
I am a Mum to 7 gorgeous children of which one I attempted to breast feed.
He was a 9lb 3 oz boy at birth and loved his milk!
I just couldnt satisfy him. He went on the bottle at 3 weeks of age and solids soon after (OOPS)! And never looked back.
The next 5 were all bottle fed – two sets of twins and a singleton – and then number 7 had a bit of both breast and bottle. I regret not trying breast with him longer.
It’s a personal decision and also one that causes alot of judgement on!
I actually preferred bottle feeding as I was able to have a better routine.
I dont believe in demand feeding…
PS: LOVE your blog and the colours and set up!!
I agree it is a personal decision and what works for one doesn’t work for another. There is way too much judgement surrounding decisions mothers make!
Thank you so much for stopping by Tammy
When my little girl arrived I was alls set to breast feed only to realise I didn’t produce milk. So we went straight to formula. We started with nan h.a which was fine until she got hypo on it and we wen through a few formulas and same issue. Until we gave up and tried mamia from Aldi. And it is the best she isn’t hyperactive any more and it’s a good price to. N when I have my next bub if I have the same issues it will b straight to mamia
