Wow! What a weekend.
The in-laws offered to take three of our kids for one night so naturally we made the most of it. It isn’t often that we only have one child; and so we did what any sane couple would do. We road tripped the 1300km from Newcastle to Nindigully and back. We left early Saturday morning and got home late Sunday afternoon.
What? It is a totally normal thing to do!
I’m sure a lot of you are wondering ‘why in the world would you want to go to Nindigully? Let alone go all that way for just one night.’
Nidigully Pub
Well my darling husband caught wind that the Nidigully Pub offers a 5.5kg burger – they call it the ‘Road Train’. And what a burger it was!! Holy shit, it was huge!!
It set us back $60 but it was the novelty of how massive it was that we couldn’t refuse. It is pretty safe to say that we didn’t even come close to finishing it, we couldn’t even finish half. I mean come on, it feeds up to 8 people easily!! It is also served with hot chips and onion rings. There was so much food.
But it wasn’t all about the burger. We stopped along the way and found One Ton Post, the Australia Telescope (ATCA) Narrabri and we couldn’t resist driving past Who’da Thought It Lookout at Quirindi.
Our ten month old was a little trooper! We thought she may get a bit annoyed at such a long drive but she barley made a peep.
We are now home and I am exhausted!!
What did you get up to this past week?

OMG! That burger is gigantic! I wonder if anyone has single handedly finished it? I’m guessing it is meant to be a shared meal?
Wow! Sounds like fun, glad the Bub was good for you!
OMG. I cannot even fathom how they would cook that either! I like the fact that you and hub +1 got a trip away though. Even more special than the burger I think!
Jeepers!!!!
What a feed!
That would feed our family of eight for a week! You guys did well considering. Did you take the leftovers for another day?
There are so many places in Australia I have never heard of. Amazing that you guys drove all that way for a burger!
That is bloody fantastic and something I would do!!!
Wow. That burger! My 15 yo would probably give it a good go…but even he wouldn’t be able to manage it. HUGE. Looks like you had an amazing weekend!
Love a good impromptu road trip!
Love a random roadtrip and can not get over the size of that monster burger!!
Is there a limit on how many of you could share the burger? You could go with 10 people and divvy it up perhaps.
It’s massive, though those hot chips look like they’re good ones!
Whoa! Too far for me to go but that is quite a challenge!!
Wow, that is one huge burger!
Oh my, that hamburger! I think I could power through it on my own right now…
Really wanting a hamburger right now. I’m guessing a gluten free one with no egg or bacon won’t cut the mustard though.
