The plan is happy mum, happy dad, happy baby!

It can be an ordeal starting solids so having the right mindset is important. Tired babies or busy parents aren’t a great help. If everyone is happy, it goes so much better I did a mix. Mostly home made but on the go I found packaged food easier.

I tried to home make as much food as possible, but I also found the food pouches you can buy from the supermarket very handy when you’re out and about. I always looked at the packaging and chose the ones that had the simplest ingredients and no preservatives.

Mashed zucchini was a hit with both my oldest two (now 14 and 15), and my now 4 year old loved avocado – mashed or in pieces he could hold and mush With the first two, it was mostly home-made with some packaged, and with the third more packaged as he got older (and didn’t like my cooking!) Heinz was the main brand we used because it’s a brand I know and trust and one all 3 children have liked.
