The school holidays are a great time for things a little extra special for the kids. The latest craze seems to be mothers enjoying high tea with their daughters however I have two boys that I know would love to attend one. Then of course my two year old tea party mad daughter would not miss it for the world. I cannot take all of them, my husband and my newborn baby to a fancy pantsy high tea.

High Tea At Home With Tea Infused Jelly

So instead we have improvised! High tea at home is just as special and without the added stress of my children being loud, animal like or fretting over something being broken.

Aeroplane Jelly sent me an amazing pack of tea infused jelly, gorgeous tea cups and a cake stand to share the experience with my family. We have definitely enjoyed it. In all honesty, we have now attended several high teas (at home) and the kids have helped prepare the food.

We have enjoyed: croissants, scones, brandy snaps, fresh fruit, raspberry licorice jelly cheesecake, mini trifles, melted snowman and vanilla mudcake cupcakes. Beverages have included: tea, coffee and juice.

We used some of the new tea infused Aeroplane Jelly to create a mixed berry trifle, unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to photograph it before the kids got into it. Take my word for it though, it was delicious! The fragrant new jellies are low in sugar and calories but do not lack in taste. They are full of flavour and there is a range to suit every taste. My favourite is the raspberry licorice, which really surprised me as I am not the biggest licorice fan. Other flavours include: Peach tea, lemon tea, orange blossom, raspberry licorice and mixed berry tea.

I have included below the recipe for the Mixed Berry Breakfast Trifle.

Mixed Berry Breakfast Trifle

Number of Serves: 8 Prep Time: 15 minutes Set Time: 2 hours

Ingredients:

1 x 9g sachet Aeroplane Jelly Light Tea Infusions Mixed Berry Tea, made to pack instructions.

  1. Pour jelly into 4 small bowls with the grated apple or pear and refrigerate until set.

Nude Food Movers Review

I will also be honest in saying that if you are expecting to see any lunches here that go above and beyond, you will be very disappointed. I do however like to ensure the kids get a good mixture of foods over the week so it isn’t a sandwich and yoghurt every day. They will have fried rice, homemade sausage rolls, sandwiches, meat and salad wraps, quiche or anything else they could request. Just not fiddly little pieces that will take me hours to achieve.

I was lucky enough to receive a pack full of Smash Nude Food Movers to test out and while we were already fans of the items we already owned, I was not aware the range was as extensive as it is! The rubbish free lunchbox was already a hit in our home but I was so pleased to see that they also offer a mini version. The smaller option is great if you don’t need the extra snack space beyond a sandwich, piece of fruit and nuts/eggs/cheese/etc. These are also compatible with a cool bag so your food will stay cooler for longer.

Each of my kids utilise a different container more than the others. The older two who attend primary school; frequently use the lunchboxes, sandwich box and snack box. Whereas my toddler makes the most of the snack tubes because we can stack 3 completely different snacks separately but with the convenience of only taking one container when screwed together. Think cut up fruit, cheese cubes and ham and biscuits.

We are a very practical family that as a result of being busy look for convenience in our lunchbox and food storage options. The Nude Food Movers provide all the ease we need whilst being great for the environment as well. Not only do they eliminate waste but they are also BPA free which is why they are so popular with families. Since reviewing and learning about some of the other options available, we have extended our supply to suit our requirements and the kids couldn’t be happier! If you haven’t tried the range already, I recommend you check them out and also don’t forget to enter the giveaway below in celebration of Nude Food Day in October for your chance to win a Nude Food Mover pack!

Prize includes:  $50 Nude Food Movers pack (Winner can select colour preference – pink, black or blue).

Sunraysia Heart Beet

Sunraysia Heart Beet is made from 100% fruit juice (90% beetroot juice and 10% apple juice) with no added sugar, preservatives, artificial flavours or sweeteners. While I am personally not a huge fan of the flavour (I am not a beetroot lover usually), my children absolutely love it! With a standard serve of 150ml being equivalent to 1.5 serves of vegetables it is not only full of goodness but it also helps to ensure my family are receiving their recommended dietary intake. I am thrilled that my family enjoy the Heart Beet juice because they are receiving nothing but health benefits every time they have a glass. You can easily swap out your usual juice for this or add it to a smoothie for a health packed thirst quencher. Available in 1L bottle for $6.00 these can be purchased from Woolworths, Coles and IGA stores.

Each Prize Includes: 2x bottles of Sunraysia Heart Beet juice. (RRP $12.00) (TOTAL PRIZE POOL $60)

My husband and I have been making an effort to spend more time together, to keep the love alive and all that. We have three children so the closest we get to being alone is when the boys are at school and we only have our daughter. One of the main interests we share is our passion for food and as we were both chefs prior to having our children we know what we like and we know the effort that goes into good food. We love sharing a moment over great coffee but thought we would expand our dining experiences and see what some of the local restaurants and cafes have to offer.

Our first stop was Cupz N’ Crepes in Morpeth, NSW. We walked up and down the street filled with dining options and decided on what looked like your standard little cafe. We only chose to dine their because they had a sign out the front saying cake and coffee, scones and crepes. There was something we all liked.

We took a seat out the front so we had room for the pram and was greeted with table service! It is not often you see that around these parts so Cupz N’ Crepes were already exceeding our expectations. We were handed menus and given time to peruse our options. We decided on something completely different than what we intended on and ordered the Eggs Benedict (Mr C) and the Canadian Stack (Me). Iced coffee with cream to drink.

As our meals were put down in front of us, we were far from disappointed! There was flavour in every bite and each component was cooked to perfection. We could not fault the food. It was reasonably prices with the average meal costing $15. The iced coffees we ordered were what we felt a tad expensive at $6 a pop but oh my goodness they were good!

If you are looking for somewhere to eat with great food and a relaxing environment in the Hunter Valley than Cupz N’ Crepes is definitely worth trying.

Have you been? What did you think?

Where do you recommend we try next?

The joyous season is here and with all events that are jolly, the food and drinks come out and play a huge part in the festivities. Many drink (some way too much) and more often than not the morning after is riddled with hangovers. No one ever says ‘How great was that hangover this morning?’. NO. They don’t want a great memorable night ruined by the unrelenting hammer pounding misery of a headache the following morning.

Please don’t hate me but I have been very fortunate to have never experienced a hangover. No matter how much I have had to drink, I always wake up fine the following morning with the exception of a very dry mouth. My husband on the other hand doesn’t have to drink much at all and will rise (not voluntarily) with a cracker of hangover. He suffers the desert resembling dry mouth, buckling headache, feeling like pencils are stabbing into his eyes, along with so much more. I know he isn’t alone in his misery and that with all the Christmas parties and celebrations, there are going to be a lot of men and women struggling to get out of bed the morning after a night out.

I was recently asked to review a new product on the market, HeadsUp, that helps prevent the dreaded hangover however as I don’t get hangovers I thought I’d keep one for Mr C and share the remaining products with you wonderful fans and let you review them. You can score a prize pack below but first I want to share some more about this revolutionary product. HeadsUp is very simple to use. It’s as easy to taking a few tablets before going to bed after consuming alcohol.

By supporting the body’s natural elimination of toxins HeadsUp doesn’t just mask hangover symptoms, it defeats them before you wake up. Even if you are a sceptic and you think this 100% natural, Australian made product won’t work; surely it’s worth giving a go. You may even find you don’t wake up feeling like someone has hit you repeatedly with a piece of 2×4. I have been told that sums up a hangover and I don’t know about you but that doesn’t sound very appealing after enjoying a great night. You can purchase HeapsUp by BioRestore in single pack (contains 4x tablets) $9.95, six packs for $49.75 or for the pro partier there is 12 packs for $99.50.

**Please Drink Responsibly**

 HeadsUp

This prize pack will have you sorted for the celebration season! I’d love it if winners could share their thoughts, reviews, expectations of the products with me to share on the blog when they have put it to the test.

3x PRIZES UP FOR GRABS

Each prize contains: 1x Stubby cooler, 1x bottle opener, 1x stressball (stress-brain), 3 packets of HeadsUp (12 tablets total). + 1 or 2 may also include a HeadsUp cap as an added bonus.

CALLING ALL CHOCOLATE LOVERS!!

Have you seen the new Cadbury Marvellous Creations? Or better yet tried them? Cadbury have added a few more delicious options to satisfy our sweet cravings. The Marvellous Creations now includes 3 special edition carnival inspired bars and blocks that are bound to get your taste buds doing somersaults and if that wasn’t enough they have also added 3 new bite size flavours to the range. Each contain the unique textures and ingredients we have come to expect from the Cadbury Marvellous Creations range. So what are these new varieties?

Cola Popping Candy Fizz which is popping candy and fizzy crunch coated in Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate with a kick of Cola. I am personally not a huge fan of this flavour however a friend of mine LOVES IT!! It is a personal preference but lucky for me Cadbury has pleased me with many of their other delightful treats.

Orange Lolly Orange Chew Fizzy is quite a mouthful to say but according to friends this is quite delicious. I am yet to pick myself up one of these to try so I will have to take their word for it, until I get some in my hot little hands anyway. I am told that each bite provides a mouthful of different textures and while you would expect orange to be the prominent flavour, it isn’t.

*takes deep breath* Toffee Apple Chew Toffee Apple Chip Crunchy Bits is for the toffee apple lover, just in case the name didn’t give that away. It is full of toffee as one would expect but it’s like chocolate coated toffee that has been rolled in toffee chips. Too much going on in my opinion but again it’s a personal preference.

I am very excited by the miniature Marvellous Creations. I have tried 2 of the 3 new ranges. The Jelly Zingers are fizzy fruit flavoured lollies covered in Cadbury milk chocolate. They aren’t too chewy but because they are so damn tasty you will finish a bag pretty quickly, especially if you enjoy chocolate like I do. You can not stop at one! Some of the lollies contains more ‘zing’ than others which is like a bit of a surprise with each piece.

The Caramel Shakes are inspired by the caramel milkshake but with a twist. Featuring a caramel infused crisp outer shell and  a crunchy caramel in creamy milk chocolate centre. These are very moreish and a hit with everyone in our house.

The Toffee Nutter is another I haven’t yet tried but I am told it is a must try for all toffee nutters out there! A combination of toffee crunch and a soft peanutty centre coated in Cadbury milk chocolate.

HAVE YOU TRIED THEM? What do you think?

While not every breakfast we serve up here at home are this nutritious (yes some are the sugar riddled favourites), we do try and keep them to a minimum. The kids want their food to have flavour and the new Nature’s Path range is a happy medium for us all. It is quick, healthy and tastes great! All of the Nature’s Path products are made from wholegrain ingredients, GMO free, are organic, Kosher and Vegan and most are also gluten free. I think they have covered almost every concern a parent (or anyone in general) could be concerned about.

Nature’s Path also understand that as everyone is so busy these days that most don’t have time to bake or create healthy snacks for lunches, afternoon tea, etc. everyday. With this in mind they have added the Envirokidz organic bars to make it easy to grab something healthy on the run (or for the kids lunches as I presume they are supposed to be for), they are really tasty. B1 and B2 have been taking these to school and have loved them, they are now on our shopping list. If you want a healthy start to the day check out the Nature’s Path range here.
