Simple craft with Scotch® Expressions! + GIVEAWAY

02/02/2014 By All Mum Said 69 Comments

Every year in preparation for the school year to begin I take it upon myself to get systemised. Not just the back to school equipment or the kids’ school station for bags, notes and homework; I do it with almost everything around the home and my office. It’s the time to clear out, tidy, stock up on supplies and most importantly get organised for the busy year ahead. If you’re anything like me then by the New Year you want new colours to freshen up your home, new accessories, something a little different than the year before. Unfortunately budget doesn’t always allow and so you either improvise, leave it the same until such time as you can change it or use the Scotch® Expressions Tape range to Make it Amazing! I wanted to share with you some wonderfully creative things you could do with a few simple items however time didn’t permit and so I’ve put together a few smaller projects that can be done in an afternoon to help you organised, add some colour and get ready for the year ahead.

With a few basic supplies your only limits are your imagination (and time). Get yourself some Scotch® Expressions Magic™ Tape, Scotch® Expressions Packaging Tape, scissors, whatever you would to make over and your creativity. As you can see I have added a new pen holder to my desk because my pen collection is getting a little out of control; it took approx. 10 minutes to make and got my desk tidier instantly.

I added some colour to a photo frame that has one of my favourite photos in it to bring a little bit of life to the bench that it sits on. Again this only took a couple of strips of Scotch® Expressions Magic™ Tape, my photo frame and about 2 minutes of my time.

Finding somewhere to store necklaces, hair bands, hair ribbons for school, etc. so they don’t get tangled can be hard so I use a wooden coat hanger and let them hang straight in my closet. Since the old wooden hanger isn’t much to look at I thought I’d jazz it up a little and make it fun. This took me about 20 minutes (I was watching TV at the time so it could have been done faster if I wasn’t preoccupied) and all I needed was some Scotch® Expressions Magic™ Tape, Scotch® Expressions Packaging Tape and some scissors. According to my boys my phone case was plain and boring as well so they created something full of life for me.

Food labelling

The uses don’t end there though and as you can see I also use it to mark food containers with dates, the boys had a blast creating images with Scotch® Expressions Tape and I have even seen someone make business card holders with it so I think it goes without saying the possibilities are endless! For more information, ideas and inspiration on what you can create go to the Scotch Facebook page ( Australia and New Zealand ). You will also find a great giveaway being run over there which requires you to upload your creations using Scotch® Expressions Tape and show how you ‘Make it Amazing’ for your chance to win 1 of 7 iPad Minis! *5 iPad Minis available in Australia and 2 in New Zealand.

In addition to that I am also running a giveaway for 3x Mad Mummas readers!

And bring it back to life if I am able,
Splashes of colours to make it pop,
And stuck together to stop its rock.

I want to make amazing my journals. There are so many decorations and designs you can do with these tapes to make your journal unique and stand out.

Another thing that I want to make amazing is envelopes that I send to my mail art buddies. We send each other mails of unique arts that we create. It’s such a great way too meet like minded people who like arts and crafts.

I want to tidy up our technology charger cord storer (isn’t that a mouthful). With 2 adults, a teenager and a tween, we have many tablets, phones, iDevices, and cameras and we store all the chargers in one spot so they don’t ‘get lost’, problem is, it’s an absolute disaster, but more than that, it is boring and plain, it could do with some pretty-ness

I would love to make my plain glass vase amazing. Using the tape I could cut different shapes, triangles, squares, and circles and would stick these on the vase. It would take the vase from boring to fabulous and would definately be a striking centrepiece on the dining table giving it the wow factor.

Transfer our garden into a playful wonderland for the children. Having completed renovations and now working with a blank canvas for the backyard, I plan to get some incite from the likes of Better Homes & Gardens magazines and busy ourselves building and transforming into a activity play area with treehouse, swings and sunken trampoline area; raised garden beds for colourful planting of seasonal vegetables and flowers; matchbox car track in the grass for our car mad Mr 10. Where to we stop – when we run out of space and puff. Thankfully we were able to save our mature trees, so a kids obstacle course and fairy path/garden meandering through the trees are also on the agenda. Having already laid out plans from the magazines to refer to spurs us on. We plan to MAKE THIS AMAZING.

My sister just officially came out. I’ve known forever that she was gay, but it’s a huge step for her to say it out loud and claim her place and I am UNBELIEVABLY proud of her. She lives in a 2 story townhouse and I’d love to “make amazing” her staircase. I’d like to turn it into a pride rainbow all the way from the ground floor to the top of the bannister. I want to let her know that I not only accept her.. but I CELEBRATE her.
