Before I opened the box and removed the machine I joked to my husband about it possibly being one of those items that you never knew you needed until you had it and as it turns out; this is one of them!! I love that it is ridiculously easy to use, it filters the water to remove impurities (without you having to lift a finger), it is compact, stylish and very practical as it is designed to fit most bottle shapes and sizes. The only thing I would change about it is the volume of the beep as it seems quite loud in the middle of night. Being able to bond and feel those moments of closeness with your baby is one of the most magical and memorable moments in a parents life; I have been very fortunate to have had that instant connection with all my children and I couldn’t imagine it being any other way. With each of my three babies the activities we’ve bonded over have been different but no less special than the others. My eldest son used to love his bath time – the water, the laughter, the fun and who could forget the suddy beards. The moments before bedtime were used to bond with my 2nd son, watching his eyes softly close as he embraced my comforting snuggles and my daughter who is now 10 months old while she is comparable to koala in the way that they love to cuddle around everything, we have been fortunate enough to be able to bond over feeding. My boys only breastfed for 3 months so I felt we never really had a chance to bond fully over that particular experience whereas Poppet was fully breastfed (plus solids) until approx. 8 months and still has night feeds of breast milk now which I believe has allowed us to experience that closeness that mums often talk about.

I’ll be honest and admit that when my both my boys were little and began eating solids I never made their food for them. It was always store bought in jars or tins from the baby section of the supermarket. I did make them mash potato but that was only when we were having it. So for the most part they didn’t experience homemade nutritional meals until they could properly eat. I always put it in the too hard basket when realistically it would have taken much to make homemade puree meals for them. At least that way I would know exactly what was in their food; not that store bought baby food seems to have done any harm to the boys. I am going to give it go making my own baby food this time round which shouldn’t be too hard now that I have this neat little contraption to help me. What I love about this is that you can make purees, mash and chunky food with the one machine simply by using different speed settings. The Explora Baby Blender is extremely easy to use and to clean once you have created your baby nutritious textured foods. It is dishwasher safe and microwave safe which is a must in my house or it won’t ever get used (yes I love my dishwasher and despise having to hand wash anything).
