For the past couple of weeks my boys have been using a daily control head lice spray from Hit Nitz 4 6. For some reason they seem to attract these itchy little critters so when I was emailed to give the Hit Nitz 4 6 products a try I jumped at the chance especially after learning that a recent study comparing a range of different head lice products has resulted in Hit Nitz 4 6 coming out on top as the leader of infestation prevention. I was also blissfully unaware that 20-40% of Australian Primary School children are infected with head lice at any one time! With this in mind I have been holding off writing this review until they got nits again so they could use the ‘Once Off’ head lice lotion and I could give a true assessment on it but they haven’t gotten them again. This could be pure luck or it could be because they have been getting their hair sprayed with the ‘Daily Control’ head lice spray as mentioned above.

2013-07-19 09.23.19 So here is what I do know – since using the spray my kids have not come home with nits. The daily control spray should be used every day (as the name suggests) and consists of 100% natural products which is great as it gets used so close to faces. You get a lot of use out of the 250ml spray bottle and it’s very easy and convenient to use. Simply spray the hair and go about your day as normal.

2013-07-19 09.21.08

Since I haven’t been able to use the head lice lotion I can tell you some information about it. It smells pleasant and as it contains natural ingredients doesn’t have that toxic aroma. No combing is required – simply put it on dry hair and wash off after 4 hours or put it in before bed and rinse off in the morning. These come in 250ml bottles as well but you only get a couple of uses out of the bottle. If you have short hair like my boys (just long enough to spike it up) you will get 2 treatments but if you have long hair you will need a new bottle each time.

2013-07-19 09.22.00

Out of the 2 products the daily spray is my favourite for the simple fact it lasts a lot longer, it’s quick and the nits have not come back since using it. You can buy these online or in stores. They retail for: ‘Once Off’ Head Lice Lotion – $19.95 and the ‘Daily Control’ Head Lice Spray – $22.95. The more you buy the cheaper they are. Overall I am I very happy with the Hit Nitz 4 6 Head Lice Solutions and would recommend anyone with school kids to give this a try!

Do you have those days where no matter what you do to make your hair look sleek, straight or just plain not wild nothing works? Me too! There is nothing worse than having the perfect outfit, glowing skin, gorgeous accessories and uncontrollable hair ruin it. Thanks to Jo Bazand their latest product Everyday Straight I no longer have to worry about that.

Before
I recently tried and tested Everyday Straight and so far it has worked a treat. It claims to give you straight hair for up to 3 months! I’m at day 4 and so far so good. There are 2 options – the intense (and very time consuming) and the quick way. Obviously the quick way isn’t going to give you the same results as the intensive treatment but I’d imagine it will help to maintain those unruly locks. I gave the intensive a go – I must say it is very time consuming and took longer than I expected however that could be due to the fact my hair appears to be lot longer than I realised. The result I have had from the intensive has definitely made it worth it.

I can now wake up in the morning with straight hair (even after wetting and washing) the night before. For a smooth and sleek look all I need to do is a quickly straighten the top layer of hair with my GHD and it’s picture perfect! I was originally concerned about the chemicals damaging my hair but I’ve been surprised by how healthy it feels. The treatment contains Keratin (the hairs natural protein), chamomile and nettle which replenishes any damage caused through everyday wear and tear.

As you can see I am pretty happy with the results I have had from this product. If you straighten your hair more than once a week or would just like more control over your hair than I think it is worth giving this a go. You can find this product in Big W & Priceline for $30.

Forgive Me Hairdresser!

Forgive me hairdresser, it has been 6 months since my last cut and colour! My split ends are extreme and I look very similar to a skunk (only reversed). I am ashamed of how bad I have let this become and promise tomorrow I will rectify the damage I have caused.

This is me but in reverse and not as fancy or well known!
Oh and of course I smell like freshly cut flowers.
I know that I am not alone when it comes to feeling the want, the desire, the need to refresh and change something! For so many this is simply accomplished by a change of hair colour, a cut, a facial, etc. I am no different!  I love nothing more than going to the hairdresser with no idea what to get done and then leaving looking and feeling like a completely different person. I love the confidence a new cut and colour can instantly bring. I go from feeling tired, exhausted and boring to self-assured, sexy and ready to take on anything besides the rain or wind that may destroy my perfectly styled hair!

My problem (and I’m sure there will be so many others in the same boat) is that I don’t go nearly as often as I should or would like to for one reason or another. The main culprits are lack of time one week and no money the next but not this week!!

My appointment is made and I am going to get sexified and a bloody good head massage (which I should add never goes for long enough!) I have no idea what colour I’m going to get, I was thinking red but as I have blonde currently I’m not sure that’s a great idea – bring on pink says my 15 year old self! Not sure if I’ll get it cut short or keep some length and I tend not to really think about it too much. I like the surprise!

I am also wondering is it just me or are there other Mums out there who would just like the hairdressers to shut up occasionally? Don’t get me wrong, I love a little bit of chatter – how are the kids, what have you been up to, etc. But I personally love nothing more than enjoying my coffee in peace and quiet! It is really the only time I am away from everyone at home and don’t HAVE to speak. I enjoy some quiet!

Do you plan what cut/style and colour you are going to get before you arrive or do you wing it like me?

Girls Day Out With Mr 3!

As you can probably tell by the lack of posts lately that I have been absolutely run off my feet, between studying for exams, assignments, looking after the kids, keeping the house semi-organised from being a complete shambles, organising dinners, the kids’ homework, sorting out our house, our holiday, etc. I have had no time for anything ‘fun’!

I decided as K (3) and I haven’t really had time to do anything alone recently I’d forget about all the shit I ‘need’ to do and just spend time with the little guy. We got a day that D was at school and C was at work where he should beand we took advantage of it. We had the ultimate girls day (yes I realise he is a boy) but we had so much fun.

He got a haircut (he loves getting it cut and spiked up); we bought him a new pair of shoes ($15 Slazenger sneakers from Spendless Shoes or something like that. What a BARGAIN!! And to top it off we went to an actual real café for lunch.

We dined at Cino’s in East Maitland – Greenhills.

The service was fantastic, food was great and the coffee was delicious.

I ordered a big breaky – Don’t be judging me I was freaking starving! – $17.90

K got chicken nuggets and chips – $7.90 which I might add was a waste of money. K was only interested in helping me devour my meal. I did find the prices a bit high but I think that’s the chef coming out in me (I know roughly what everything costs and how much profit they would have made). However the atmosphere was good and best of all it was kid friendly. K and I talked about loads of different things and he got really excited, I just loved the look he had in his eyes.

He was having fun and so was I!

This is something I am going to have to make time to do on a regular basis with the family, whether it is all of us at once or just one on one. It was almost therapeutic to actually sit, relax and just talk (yes I am aware I was talking to a 3 year old but gee has he got some interesting stories to tell)  ;p

Do you have regular dates with your husband/wife/partner? Kids?

What do you do to mix things up?
