]]>Are you pregnant? Constantly cleaning, scrubbing and tidying? Is it safe to clean when pregnant?
As every woman who has ever been pregnant knows, you have the urge to scrub, tidy and generally have everything spotless. This is most commonly known as nesting and unfortunately (or fortunately for others in the home) we all suffer from it.
I hate to tell you but most cleaning jobs are safe to do while pregnant. In moderation of course, so you don’t overdo it. There are some things that should be avoided (aka left to someone else) or kept in mind while on your cleaning spree. These include:
• Cleaning the oven – Due to majority of kitchens being a smaller, more enclosed areas; fumes from oven cleaners are cause for concern. Especially when pregnant. In addition to toxic fumes there is also the bending and crouching to consider. It is best to hand this chore over to someone else.
• Clean only in well ventilated areas. Most chemicals and domestic cleaning products are safe to use when pregnant however the fumes and smell may cause you to feel light headed and sick if the room is not ventilated enough. Open doors and windows to allow good air-flow!
• Use protection – I’m not talking to prevent pregnancy. I mean rubber gloves and a mask to protect yourself from touching and inhaling chemicals. You can never be too safe.
During the later stages of pregnancy, you will find it harder to get up and down to clean showers, bath tubs, etc. on a daily basis. I know all too well and as a result of me being 37 weeks pregnant and not being able to maintain the level of cleanliness I like in my bathrooms; I hired a cleaner for the first time in my life. My bathrooms have never shined so much, or maybe that was the euphoria I felt because I didn’t have to clean them and yet they were spotless!
I typically live by my 5 minutes a day rule for cleaning the bathroom << check it out! It will save you a lot of hard work but as I am now heavily pregnant, I just cannot keep it up. For more information on staying healthy and safe during pregnancy, click the link.
This is not my cleaner. I cleaned other parts of the house while my bathrooms were being scrubbed.
I never saw the value in a cleaner until that life changing day last week. My eyes have been opened. To be honest the bathrooms are my most hated household chores! I know I am not alone in this which is why I have a great opportunity for one of All Mum Said’s amazing readers.

]]>At the end of a long day I enjoy nothing more than a good glass of wine (maybe two) or even a vodka if the mood strikes me. However as you all know I have recently had a baby and as I’m breastfeeding having an alcoholic drink is not on the cards right now. I received a very welcomed email a couple of weeks ago about a new drink that has just arrived in Australia. Even though it is made from quality grapes like wine; it is non-alcoholic!
I have been trying both the Shloer Red and the Shloer White sparkling grape juice and in my eyes there is a clear winner. I love the red! This may be because I am a lover of red wine or it could be that the fruity flavour won me over. I am not a big fan of the white grape juice; while it is very fresh and crisp I found the taste not sweet enough for my liking. It reminded me too much of white wine (I don’t like white wine either) but a friend of mine loved it. It all comes down to personal preference I think as she prefers white wine over red. I think this is a great alternative to alcohol for pregnant and breastfeeding women, the benefits don’t end at it tasting great either. They contain no preservatives, artificial colours, sweeteners or flavourings! You can purchase these Shloer red and white sparkling juices from Coles supermarkets and independent stores.

I also have an amazing giveaway for you wonderful loyal readers.

| My eldest messy boy |
Anyway at this point it is just a feeling I have that it’s a girl so I could be completely wrong. I feel I am destined to be mum of muddy dirty smelly boys and that is 100% OK with me as while I am becoming more of a girly girl I am still a little in touch with my tough tomboy type side. With the 20 week scan fast approaching I’m sure this will tell us one way or the other. I am just hoping ‘squishy’ is healthy.

]]>I was thinking back to when I was pregnant and the number of things I forgot to do or let’s just say the biggest possible brain farts possible and they were in the hundreds. I had them all!I had a few doozies during my first pregnancy let me tell you; however there is one that stands out and it’s pretty safe to say I will never live it down. EVER.
Imagine this with melted plastic dripping everywhere.
Yep that’s right, I had forgotten to remove the black plastic base before cooking the pizza. The smell never left the oven and after a few attempts of using it to cook dinner we soon realised the taste was never going to leave either.
