]]>Not sure where to go for the winter break? It is always great to try something new and different. There are plenty of places on offer, all across Australia, with something different and unique at each one. Below are a few of the best and most exciting places you can visit this winter.

If you don’t like the cold and you are looking for a beach vacation there is no better place than the Whitsundays. Winter doesn’t seem to reach this far north, though this time of year an edge has been taken off the heat. Jet skiing is the best way to enjoy your time in this island paradise. Want to give jet skiing a try but don’t have your own? Check out quality retailers like JSW Powersports to find a model that suits you (you can see their range here ). If you live near the water you will be using it every weekend. With a jet ski you can hop from island to island and see the reef up close without going into the water.
With the summer heat gone, now is the perfect time to go hiking. Hiking is by far one of the best ways to see some of the most picturesque parts of the country. South East Queensland and northern New South Wales has some of the best hiking trials in Australia and even the world. Just west of the Gold Coast are the mighty rainforests surrounding Springbrook, with trees that are thousands of years old and waterfalls that flow all year round. If you are looking for more of a challenge, and an extraordinary view, look no further than Mt Warning, a three to four hour climb that results in views looking over the Gold Coast and south of Byron Bay.

When you are soaking up the heat of summer, it is easy to forget that Australia is home to some pretty awesome ski fields. Falls Creek in Victoria is home to a winter wonderland. Whether it is skiing or snowboarding, or just building snow men, it is the place to be for a white winter. There are slopes for beginners and experts, meaning fun for everyone. One of the most attractive reasons to visit is the usually short lines and limited queuing, getting you in the action as quick as possible.
Kakadu is the perfect place for a more ‘Crocodile Dundee’ type adventure. Early winter is the best time of year to go. It’s not too hot and the water is still flowing from the wet season. Kakadu is a fisherman’s paradise and a great place to catch barramundi. There is also plenty of trekking and hiking on offer across some of the countries most rugged terrain. The more adventurous thrill-seekers will find plenty of fun in white water rafting and kayaking in the region.
Tasmania in winter is like something out of a fairy tale. Snow-capped mountains, deep, dark forests and quaint little villages all combine to make the island state one of the most beautiful places to visit. There’s plenty of skiing to be done but it is hard to resist the allure of a walk around the crystalline Dove Lake, at the base of Cradle Mountain or through one of the frost encrusted rainforests, shimmering like diamonds in the sunlight.
There are so many great places to visit on a winter break, these are just a few of the best.
Where are you planning to go this winter?

]]>I am shoe obsessed. A shoeaholic some might say. I LOVE SHOES! Those who know me in ‘real life’ know that with each new season brings a new range of fashion and footwear for me; well the desire for them at least. I am always on the lookout for shoe and accessory sales and while on the hunt for a new cafe with my husband last week I stumbled upon a store I didn’t even realise was there – it must have opened up recently. Ziera. It had a gorgeous yellow handbag in the window that caught my eye and before you ask, of course I poked my head in and had a look around. Laid out before me were a selection of crisp boots calling my feet. I grabbed a catalogue from the store to browse while enjoying my coffee (and dropping completely obvious subtle hints to the husband) and jumped online to visit their website when I got home. You should check out their winter range when you get a spare few minutes – they might be calling for your feet as well Cinderella.
My top 5 favourites from Ziera are:
Ziera Judith heels $269
Add height without compromising comfort. Great for winter – work or play.
Ziera Zane heels $229
Perfect for the office paired with tights and a skirt or knee length dress.
Ziera Waikato Boots $269
Got a great pair of jeans? Pair these with them and you’ll look smokin’ hot!
Ziera Santiago Boots $369
A must have for every wardrobe. Goes with every outfit – jeans, skirts or dresses.
Ziera Talya Boots $215
Great all rounder for winter that will keep your toes warm.
Ziera Neitie Yellow Handbag $79
This the bag that caught my attention in the shop window. Isn’t she pretty?!

]]>Soups are a popular choice in the cooler months. Lets face it we all love feeling that warm bowl of soup fill our bellies and with winter on the way this is a great pumpkin soup recipe to keep on hand. It’s a favourite in our home because it is very easy to make but it also tastes AMAZING!! My pumpkin soup is great served fresh from the pot or reheated, it can be frozen or even used as a sauce.

Ingredients
1/4 pumpkin
4-6 rashers bacon
1 large onion
1 tablespoon chicken stock powder
1 tablespoon curry powder
water
pepper
Method
1. Roughly chop bacon, onion and pumpkin (taking off skin).
2. Fry off bacon and onion.
3. Add chicken stock (just as powder – do not mix with water) and curry powder to bacon. Cook until bacon is coated and smelling delicious.
4. Add water – enough that the pumpkin is covered.
5. Bring to boil, then reduce to low heat and simmer until pumpkin is cooked and the flavours are infused.
6. Blend and serve with bread rolls.
Make sure you come back and let me know what you thought of my pumpkin soup recipe. ]]>The post Summer is Soon to End, But It Doesn’t Mean Nights Outdoors Have to appeared first on All Mum Said.
]]>One of the wonderful things about summer is enjoying summer evenings outdoors. Families often eat outside and spend happy hours relaxing in the outdoor area. With the end of summer many families head indoors and put away ideas of outside evenings until the warmer months reappear. But there are so many excellent outdoor heating options available that there really is no need to stop spending nights outdoors in the cooler weather.
Barbeques Galore Australia has a number of efficient and attractive outdoor heating options for those who enjoy evenings out of doors. Here are a few options that will keep you warm and cosy while enjoying outdoor evenings in the cooler months.
Braziers are good old fashioned outdoor heating devices. They are inexpensive to buy and also add great atmosphere to your outdoors. They are made from tempered steel that is usually painted or power-coated in black so they will fit in with any outdoor décor. You can buy briquettes to use as fuel. These are not expensive and very efficient at producing heat. Once the briquettes are lit they will look great; the glowing embers will provide atmosphere as well as warmth. You will need to watch the kids though as braziers are hot to touch.

Fire Pits are enjoying a return to popularity. Your family will get a lot of enjoyment relaxing around the fire pit and it will keep you all warm. Fire pits use wood, charcoal or heat beads for fuel. They are usually bowl shaped and made of tempered steel. They do get hot, so again you will need to watch the kids. Fire pits add some enchantment to outdoor evenings, a great place to gather to tell stories and spin tales. A fire pit allows you the advantages of having an outdoor fire without the mess or the damage to your yard.
Chimineas are basically outdoor wood burning heaters. They were traditionally made from clay but are now available in cast iron as well. They vary in size and are one of the least expensive ways of providing outdoor heat. They provide a gentle ambience to your outdoor area and will keep you warm. The outside of the chiminea will get hot, so care should be taken that no one touches it.
Gas patio heaters have become increasingly common in outdoor settings, both commercially and in people’s home. This is because they are very efficient at spreading radiant heat into the surrounding air. The area they heat will depend on the size of the heater, but they can warm a reasonably large area, up to around 5 metres. They are also very safe as the hot part of the heater is well above children’s reach. They are not great in windy conditions though. They are usually hooked up to a gas bottle that sits neatly within the heating unit.

]]>The post Hot & Cold Muesli + Giveaway! appeared first on All Mum Said.
]]>When you think of Muesli what comes to mind? For me it is cereal or adding it to yoghurt. My thinking has now been changed. Table of Plenty has developed an innovative 2-in-1 Hot or Cold Muesli that doesn’t compromise on flavour. We seem to be having some confusion in weather here in the Hunter Valley, one day it is freezing and the next it’s like summer again. So the timing couldn’t have been more perfect to try both styles of this muesli.
My eldest son is a huge fan but my youngest and I would prefer it to not have sultanas in it. Besides that though it is quick and convenient and tastes pretty damn good! I love that you can have delicious porridge cooked in the microwave in the matter of minutes or enjoy crunchy muesli with milk and it is the exact same product. There are 8 sachets per box and with a RRP $5.99 it isn’t too badly priced for a healthy breakfast.
As mentioned in the title there is a giveaway so you can try it for yourself!!
There will be 3 lucky winners who will each receive 2x boxes of Table of Plenty 2-in-1 Hot or Cold Muesli.
Entry is easy – just follow the easy instructions on the rafflecopter.
This is a game of skill and chance plays no part!
GOOD LUCK!
GIVEAWAY CLOSED!
Winners are ~ Stacey S, Tanya B, Rachel T
