After a month of watching Declan play with his first wiggly tooth flicking it back and forward with his tongue over and over again it has finally fallen out! The tooth fairy is making her maiden voyage to our home tonight and the excitement from this boy is incredible.

This 5 year old (almost 6 as he keeps telling me) has had the biggest smile on his face all day. A big gappy smile. The enthusiasm coming from this kid is great; he put the tooth in a little tin and put it under his pillow, made his bed and cleaned his room so it was spotless. He said it was so the tooth fairy didn’t get hurt finding his tooth. Smart thinking kiddo 😉

Times have changed so much since the tooth fairy stopped visiting me and the $1-$2 I used to receive seems to have taken on inflated rates. This has gotten me thinking as to how much the fairy should pay for each tooth. I am thinking $2 for small teeth & $3 for molars (which seems to be way under the retail price).

I would love for you to leave me a comment below as I’d really like to hear how much your fairy pays per tooth? Also what do you do with the teeth once they have been collected ~ keep them or discard?
We had this last week …twin 2 lost 1 tooth and put it under his pillow.(HE smashed out 3 teeth immediately and lost another 1 in Nov 2011 but we don’t talk about that and no money was given)
Facebook told me the going rate is $1- $2 shiny gold.
I forgot but hubby didn’t – he gave him $1 , $1 and 2 x 20c.
Twin 1 – innocently pipes up in morning upon twin 2 excited discovery – despite still believing “AT school they told me your parents take the tooth from under your pillow and REPLACE it with money.”
(Twin 2 said she remembered about my other teeth.
Then asks how to make his teeth wiggly.
#1 asked to make his teeth wiggly ….still checks most days.
