It’s the end of financial year which means The Big W – Giant Toy Spectacularsales are about to begin and I can get a start on Christmas shopping. There is nothing I enjoy more than a good sale, except maybe being able to shop from the comfort of my own home. With the convenience of online shopping I can do it at any time of the day, wear my pyjamas and ugg boots or even enjoy a glass of wine while I shop!
The online sale begins on the 20th June and ends on the 10th July. I was fortunate enough to receive a gift card to personally experience shopping with Big W online. I told my kids they had a set amount to spend and could get whatever toys they liked within the budget from the toy section on the website, they were absolutely thrilled and found it so simple to pick and choose the toys of choice. I had considered using the voucher to purchase their Xmas gifts but I seem to be quite out of touch lately with what toys are ‘in’ and toys are ‘so last week’ and figured my boys are the toy experts and left the decision in their capable hands.
Last year I used the Big W Toy Spectacular Sale to purchase Christmas presents and must say that the Christmas Layby Service was a massive help. It allowed us to be select the items we wanted and pay them off over 6 months!

NINJA TURTLES are all that is important in life to my 4yo son. My 7yo son loves Lego and we all know that neither of these brands are cheap. My tomboy 2yo daughter loves anything of her brothers that she can get her little paws on ;). Over all I think dress ups are the most used and asked for ‘play thing’ in my house so this would be the go for us.

A Magnificent mix of LEGO! Coz, yanno, a trip to the ED with LEGO embedded in my foot is how I wish to spend Christmas…. Again! LOL
When the catalogue arrived in the mail last week master four sat down with a texta pen and circled all (yep, read *ALL*) the items he would like for his birthday next month and Christmas. He would especially love the LEGO City Town Square for $124 but at that price I said no. With a $100 gift card I’d buy it for sure. Otherwise the $20 LEGO sets down from $28.84 (most other stores they’re $29.95) are great value.
I would love to buy leapfrog toys to enhance her love of learning
I work as a teacher aide so I would love to pick up some new resources with the gift card to use at school, things like the great value reading books (Fancy Nancy, Zac Powers, The Famous Five), some washable sidewalk chalk (great for sight word games) and if there was enough left I now one classroom that would love the Tinkers Easel Table and 4 chairs although my own two sons would love a scooter each, I think I would have to maybe go half to each
Of course I’d buy some toys for the kids (a Barbie & Glam Convertible for my little miss & Little People Wheelies for mr moo) but honestly I’d have to spend most of it on a helmet and every knee, shin, elbow, groin etc pad I could get to fit hubby (aka my third child!)
Let’s just say there was an ‘incident’ over the weekend with the scooter he bought to “keep up with the kids”…. the pavement won.

Dear Toy Sale Fairy,
What this Mummy needs is a trike bike. She is sick of the bike that runs over her toes, can’t be steered (even with 2 hands well) and gives her a sore back from trying to do so.
She would love to walk to the park with her son ON the bike, rather than throwing a tantrum because the bike keeps running off the path and can’t be moved off the grass with toddler on it.

So the Eezy Peezy climbing frame
would keep my monkeys entertained!
I would use it to buy my 18 month old some new matchbox cars for his birthday on the 20th of December!!!!
He has just discovered Matchbox cars and has so far destroyed one, one has landed up in my washing machine, And another one appeared during a nappy change that he had stashed down there ( even a high pressure hose couldn’t have cleaned that car!!)
After 2 girls, i am having to toughen up and accept that boys will be boys, and this is just the start of nasty things i will have to clean whilst being a mum to a boy . A few spare cars would come in handy!
oh and a Nerf Gun for me, its about time i got some payback!
