Exciting things you’ll find

The Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas Lights Spectacular offers something to entertain everyone. There is the magical light displays that feature Cinderella’s horse and carriage or the spectacular princess and her castle, Storybook Garden, Fairy Garden, Fun Zone and even Santa’s workshop.

There are live shows for the little one – Little Scallywagz that will entertain the kids with their energetic and fun show. The Fun Zone offers unlimited time on the massive Super Slide, inflatable obstacle courses, arcade alley and of course the jumping castles. They used to have a Ferris wheel but unfortunately it hasn’t been for the past couple of years, which is a real shame but it has been replaced with the Fun Zone so the kids don’t lose out.

Food

We also get churros every year on our way out. They are delicious, fresh and not too badly priced. Definitely give them a go if you are heading to the food stalls while you are checking out the Christmas lights. If churros aren’t your thing, there is also wood fired pizza, gelato, coffee and German Kitchen.

Our Christmas tradition is to celebrate at our grandparents place with all uncles, aunties and cousins. We start with our midnight Christmas service on the Eve and we have all our meals together on Christmas day. We have an open house on that day and have friends come over. It always end with a Santa visit, dance and a big bang of fireworks. Christmas makes me miss home and I try to go back as often as possible. Would love to see Mother of all light display in Hunter Valley Garden and might make it a new tradition for my small family.

We do a family Christmas Eve box… it started as pjs and a book then I added some snacks and then some reindeer food and this year they are getting pjs, bibs for my youngest, book, snacks in a snack cup, reindeer food, uno and a santa key, all packaged in a hand made box! I think I need to draw the stop line… my oldest is only 3.5. I need an intervention

    I simply love Christmas,
It’s the best time of the year.
Nan hangs the most amazing lights,
And santa gets to drink the beer.

I love the joy of giving,
    The eating, drinking and decoration.
    But baking Christmas cookies together,
Is by far my favorite tradition.

I love taking my 4 girls around looking at Christmas lights and seeing their eyes light up. Our favourite this year was the ninja turtles house! So lovely to hear the girls calling out “Merry Christmas everyone” and pointing out all the decorated houses to the 22 month old and getting her excited for Christmas 👭👭🎄🎅🏼🎁

Christmas lights are truly magical because when I look at them I feel the kids’ happiness and excitement and I forget how old I am and how many problems I have. The fairy-tales come to life inside my mind and I want jump, run and fly :-).
