Harmony Ball Necklace Review + Giveaway

I love jewellery. I love that it can dress up an outfit or finish a look. I love that it can be sentimental but also fun. I also love that you don’t have to spend a fortune to find some gorgeous pieces.

I recently added a harmony ball necklace from Oh My Giddy Aunt to my jewellery collection. I have always admired and had an interest in them but for one reason or another, I just hadn’t bought one before.

Mother’s Day gift ideas

Cue Mother’s Day shopping and BAM sales everywhere. Advertisements as far as the eye can see. Unfortunately, not all of these ads are of interest to mums. No mum doesn’t want another ‘World’s Best Mum’ mug, her previous five are still in mint condition. Give her something as beautiful as she is. As harmonious as she is. As thoughtful as she is.

For those who haven’t heard of Oh My Giddy Aunt, they are an Australian business that specialises in keepsakes that tell the stories of people, places and times. Whether you want a personalised message engraved on a bangle, a signet ring, lockets or even a tooth fairy thimble, they have it all and at affordable prices!

Harmony ball necklace

Back to the harmony ball necklace… let me start by saying I love it! They are a sterling silver chime ball that as the name suggests is quite harmonious. As you move about you can hear a gentle chime, almost like a wind chime way off in the distance.

They are very lightweight but built incredibly tough. They are available in two sizes and come standard with an adjustable black cord. You could dress it up further by swapping the cord out for a chain.

Why does it chime?

It is often used for relaxation and meditation however it is also given as a keepsake of timeless friendship and love. Expectant mothers also choose to wear the harmony ball necklace so their newborn babies will recognise the sound of the chime when they are born.

Before you go and get mum something she will politely pretend to like, consider one of these gorgeous Bali inspired Bella Donna Silver harmony ball necklaces. We all know it is the thought that counts but this year consider something a little personal than slippers and a new calendar.

I had one for years, it was snapped when I fell at a shopping center. the ball rolled away and the cage was crushed. another one would be amazing, it truly helps with anxiety issues, gives you a focus.

I received a cooking oil gift basket one year for Christmas which was totally wasted on me because I don’t like cooking! I think my friend mixed up my present with someone else’s. Rather than it go to waste I gave it to my sister-in-law who loves to cook (no I didn’t re-gift it)!

OK the best mother’s day present I’ve got was a sleep in. My eldest child fed and kept the twin in his bed. I must say I’m a single mum and the twins have issues

one year at christmas my mum gave my present and watched me open it and i found the plate my son made with kinder fundraiser with his drawing permanently on it. I was confused as id bought two when he at kinder 4 years earlier, one for me and one for her as a grandma christmas present that year. I asked her why she gave it back to me as a christmas present?? She replied oh i thought id give back to you as it cant be washed in diswasher. I was dumbfounded, i said you can hand wash it or just have on display like i do! She said no i thought best to give back to you as i dont hand wash anything all dishwasher. My son’s look on his face was sadness. But proud to say i have it on display on my bookshelf proudly next to the one i had already and still on display now 8 years later!

The funniest/ worst gift I ever received was a used pillowcase from my grandmother for my wedding. As she hugged me at the reception, she whispered that she’d wrapped a pillowcase and put it on the presents table as she’d thought it’d be bad manners to arrive to the reception without a gift, and that she’d like it back as it went with her sheet set!! I literally didn’t know what to say and did an awkward laugh haha, I honestly thought she was joking! But no, she was not ?

The best present I’ve received was a homemade card from my oldest when she was younger. It had on it all the reasons why she loves having me as her mother.

A few years ago my husband bought me an official Swans supporter shirt. I’d never before worn an official sporting shirt. Felt great.

Last Easter I was gifted an earless chocolate bunny and told that his ears tasted yummy. ? Mummys bunny had a bite out of its bottom and was footless. ?

When we were newly married, for my birthday I mentioned to hubby I needed a new nighty, the oversized tee style that I like, but it had to be BIGGER by ‘one or two’ sizes so it’d be comfy. Back then I was a size 8, he came home with a size 24 and wondered why I was so startled by his gift. I wore it a few times as to not hurt his feelings, then it mysteriously vanished 😉

Hands down best surprise gift ever was the brand new fridge in the garage, each shelf stocked with all our favourite bevvies, assorted beers for me, wine for my wife and of course an array of fizzies for the kids (treat drinks that is, not daily drinks). The old one had died and wife was adamant it wasn’t being replaced, all because her and the kids were being sneaky, wanting to surprise the old man who never gets surprised, well i did. They’re the best.

One my my Mum’s guests attended my wedding and got me this random round disc thing which shone light onto the ceiling. Looks like a recycled gift!

Had a friend stay at the house, and having spent a few days driving her around and talking about , among other things, how much I hate to cook, she gave me a Jamie Oliver cook book as a thank you present!

  18. 30/04/2018 / 12:35 pm

I’ve received some weird and wonderful gifts in the past, mainly for secret santas. One year I received a kids DVD (clearly meant for my kids not for me – still waiting for my gift for that year!) and on another occasion I received an umbrella (because nothing screams christmas like a fold up black umbrella, does it?) I do remember my brother giving my mother a milkshake maker for mother’s day one year, which was clearly self-serving as she didn’t drink milk (she never even had it in her coffee!!!)

A boat! It was actually for my husband but he thought putting a pink trim and getting me a sailors hat would make all the difference.

The worst and funniest gift I’ve ever received was an infomercial egg cooker for my birthday. Hubby saw it on tv fell in love with it and then gave it to me. Low and behold it didn’t do as promised in the ad no matter what hubby did. The hours of entertainment it gave us both trying to make it work was priceless even to him lol. The last straw was when he sold it and the lady who bought it sent him a picture of her perfect eggs. Needless to say he follows suggested gift ideas now and doesn’t buy from infomercials. Win win

The best gift I have ever received was from my husband.
Hubby hates having his photo taken but knows how much I treasure my keepsake memories.
So for my first Mother’s Day ( our son we 3 weeks old) he surprised me with a lifestyle family session.
    Best gift ever!!

Mothers Day 19 years ago my husband bought me some flowers, a pair of boots, some chocolates, a hair dryer, a popcorn maker, a socket set and a beautiful card. Something from each of our six children. He had never bought me any gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmases, etc before. So this came as a big shock. An even bigger shock followed. This same day, he had a heart attack and died.

I got some teddy bear earrings with movable arms and legs two years running from my dad for my birthday when I was a teenager. I didn’t have have the heart to tell him that I never liked them the first year. Mum and I still have a giggle over it every now and then.

My Dad is a very unique and unconventional gift giver, he once show up with one of those novelty toilet seats with a specific design in the seat, you know those? Well this one was the one with spiders, and insisted that he install it right away. As soon as he left back to Sydney we took it off and put it in the shed, so I could actually use the toilet with feeling extremely uncomfortable!!
