I think people look at Mother’s Day like it’s something that they deserve for being a mother. Like it’s their reward. The reward is the love of our children every day of the year. Mother’s Day is just supposed to be a little bonus.

I love all the cards and presents my kids have made or bought for me over the years and keep them all. But as a single mum who has spent Mother’s Day without my kids, the best present of all i just being with them. We didn’t do anything particularly special for Mother’ Day, but we were together. Bliss.

I think the best Mother’s Day gifts are about PRESENCE and the cute little things kids come up with. My daughter and her older teen girls and youngest daughter, drove up here yesterday and I put on lunch. It was very special. I am glad your day was too. I hate the ‘pressure’ about special days and what they are supposed to bring. Take care of you too!

I would rather we did something fun all together – this year I wanted to do an escape room but we couldn’t as the new puppy arrived the night before and on the actual day I see my mum and my partner and the kids see his mum – so it’s all a bit of a crap obligation thing…one year we went bowling about three weeks later. That was a great Mother’s Day present.

Beautifully said Kell! I wore a necklace all day yesterday that my youngest daughter bought me for $2 from the Mother’s Day stall at school. She looked so happy to see me wearing it! It’s these little things that I treasure about being a mum!
