Para’Kito – A Buzz Free Summer + GIVEAWAY

Summer is a time for camping, beach, picnics and trips to the park with the family but often mosquitoes put a damper on the fun times. Unfortunately for me and my 5 year old we seem to have good blood that’s ripe for sucking; if there is a mozzie around chances are it is having a feast on one of us. This is quite unfortunate for Kye as not only does it make him itchy he is allergic to their bites, resulting in hives and swelling around the affected area, hardness of the skin and it always gets infected.

Para’Kito clips RRP $24.95
and
Para’Kito bands RRP $24.95

I received an email a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to give Para’Kito a test run which coincided perfectly for last minute outings to the creek, Australia Day BBQ and last bush walk before school resumed. For something that is 100% natural and eco-friendly I can see why it has been so popular worldwide; it works to offer 24 hour protection from mosquitoes and insects while having no direct contact with skin making it safe for allergy sufferers, pregnant women, children, babies and adults. The Para’Kito range includes a neoprene wristband and a clip which are refillable with a polymer pellet. The pellets are infused with a blend of seven essential oils: lavender, geranium, citronella, pine tree, patchouli, clove and peppermint which are convenient and easily slipped into your Para’Kito™ wristband or clip. The oils effectively make the wearer seem invisible to mosquitoes even when in contact with water. Each pellet also offers 15 consecutive days of protection which is great when camping for a few days or if you are going to a festival.

Refill packs with two pellets RRP $15.95

I have found the clip to be very handy when I go walking as I just clip it to the pram and not only am protected and no longer get attacked by insects but neither does my baby or my boys walking next to me. The clip would also be great for travelling as it can easily attach to your belt, back packs or even hung inside your tent when camping. Para’Kito™ bands and clips are priced at RRP $24.95 and come with two refill pellets, which provide 24 hour protection for a total of 30 days. Refill packs with two pellets are also available and priced at RRP $15.95.

Both myself and my kids get massive welts if bitten by mozzies, and the lumps don’t go away for weeks sometimes.

We live in Mozzie heaven, I’ve already got two members of my extended family with ross river fever, I don’t want my kids to get it too.

Who needs to go camping? There are no screens on my house. Get screens, then. Yep, not so easy with ancient windows that open out. So every night in summer, we open the windows for a cooling breeze then slather ourselves in mozzie repellent. It works, somewhat. The kids are getting very good at swatting mozzies in the air. One little Para’Kito in a room sounds like heaven.

    Constant itching is no fun,
    Especially for my little one,
We are surrounded by mozzies daily,
Please help us to stop itching like crazy!

As an avid camper we are always on the hunt for mozzie bands to trial and find one that works best, as my daughter is allergic to them and comes out in big welts as she did on Australia Day long weekend as we spent the weekend camping. The first time she ever got bitten we thought she had meningococcal and was rushed to hospital, but thank god it wasn’t but just a very bad reaction to pesky mozzies!!

Whenever outside in the garden or entertaining I am used as the gauge for the Aeroguard detox. If the mozzies are out they inevitably find me first. Horrible things, I then spend the next two days itching myself. And the kidlets come out in large red soars, particularly Miss 3 who can’t help but keep at them until they bleed. Outdoors is meant to be a pleasant experience for the family to all enjoy, but it can be ruined by the onset of these pests. We would love to try this product out as Aeroguard is totally overbearing in scent and makes you cough and splutter when you spray it about.

My 2 Year old is somewhat allergic to mosquito’s and the bites blow up huge and painful yet has very sensitive skin so most repellents cause him to get an even nastier rash Para’kite would be perfect for my little man.

When summer rolls around each year and the sun begins to shine,
    The guys and girls come out to play ‘cos the weather is so fine;
They kick their heels, no cares have they, they’re young and having fun,
Running round with limbs exposed just to catch some sun!
But woe is me I cannot venture far without full cover,
    Top to toe, no flesh showing even though I’m a sun lover;
So here I sit, covered head to foot and melting with the heat,
Just to stop those pesky Mozzies chewing on my meat!
So this Para’Kito prize pack would be just the perfect thing,
    To help me join the fun and games, the joy that it would bring;
I’d get my life back without a doubt and have an awesome time,
No more ugly welts and bumps, my god that’d be sublime!

I work from home a lot and often with the balcony door open in summer the mosquitoes target me, I have a rare blood type and I’m convinced this is the reason! I sit with a fly squat next to me but I always miss and they quickly scurry through the air in a frantic, jittery dance to safety.

However last week one did not fly off. He boldly charged straight at me in a Kamikaze dive-bomb. I swatted and slapped at it but this just made it more determined. It came in hard and fast, zooming up the middle, dodging left and right, diving to my legs, then up to my chest, then my head. I dropped the squat and started to wave my hands around me like a lunatic swatting and slapping at thin air. It just wouldn’t give up!

Then it just disappeared but not until it had got a piece of that rare, vintage blood I was telling you about! I’d gone from a lunatic squatting air to a bigger lunatic scratching and rubbing at the enormous bite on my foot.

However I did learn something from that mosquito I have not learnt from any other. It taught me something important about persistence, goals and success. In a weird way all living things have this need and desire to succeed. Speaking of which I better get back to work. Hopefully I have succeeded in explaining why I need this prize because I really don’t want to learn any more life lessons from mosquitoes!

My 5 year old daughter has a terrible reaction to Mozzie bites. She swells up hugely around the bite area and if it is a hand or foot the difference in size from the swollen one to the normal can be massive. The bites themselves swell into huge blisters that turn hard and then burst, leaving her with nasty sores. The first time it happened, she was only around 18 months old and developed such a swelling under her chin that I rushed her to the doctor. He sent us up to the hospital because he was concerned it may be a White Tail Spider bite! After about six hours at the hospital, a doctor found that she was developing another bad swelling on the top of her foot and deduced it was probably mozzies. Since then, the nasty swellings, blisters and boils have been a regular thing for our poor little girl. We have even been called to collect her from school, despite a note from the doctor, when one leg swelled to 1 1/2 times the size of the other, then again when they ‘thought she had chickenpox’! We cover her in repellent every morning before school and whenever she is outside, but we are still searching for something that is really effective in keeping them away from her precious skin. We would love to try the Para’ Kito pack!

  29. Julia Mason
    31/01/2014 / 10:33 am

I would love to win, because it’s not fair that we have to go inside when the mozzies are fierce! Spraying aerosols are bothersome and sometimes don’t work, I’d love to try these new products!

So over being breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything in between for those pesky mosquitoes…lumps and bumps that my son can use as a dirt track with his cars and oh so the itch…drives one up the wall and back…give me my freedom of enjoying the outdoors and my summer sanity 🙂

My hubby is my mosquito guard, because mozzies love him more than me. Once he stood in front of our house and talked to a friend just for less than 5 mins, he got more than 10 bumps. One mozzie is enough to annoy him for whole night. After my little boy was born, I have two mosquito guards, because he has the same blood group with my hubby. But he is not like my hubby who can keep silent after being bit, he keeps scratching itchy bumps and screaming. OMG, I prefer being bit than listening to his scream. Wish Para’Kito could save all of us.

  34. Chont
    04/02/2014 / 2:59 pm

Because I come out in welts when bitten by mozzies and they itch and hurt for about a week. Hubby caught Ross River virus from a mossie and his health and energy levels have never been the same. I’d hate for that to happen to my kids.

  35. Cathy Stone
    06/02/2014 / 12:47 pm

I would love to win because The mosquitoes and insects ignore me, but love eating my hubby. My husband is the BBQ Boss and I don’t want to get stuck with the cooking for the night, and it would also save my sanity as I know about every bite.

  36. 08/02/2014 / 12:38 am

    How will my kids survive,

I’d love to win some Para’Kito today,

We travel to India yearly, visiting relatives there. I am forever on the look out for mozzies- watching my family to see if any need to be squashed. The Para ‘kito would put my mind at ease (and let me appear ‘normal’ without spinning my head around continuously on the mozzie hunt!)

  47. Kylie Embury
    14/02/2014 / 11:49 am

    Mozzies HATE my O- blood,
my kids are not so lucky,
they swell up with such nasty lumps,
all red and hot and yucky.

They’re swarming now in our backyard,
    around the paddling pool,
    attack the toddler every day,
    they really are so cruel!

    So Para’Kito we need you,
to keep the kids bite free,
and help avoid the “Muuuuum, I’m itchy”
    that adds to my insanity!

Out of all our (8) kids… we have one who dislikes our camping trips with a passion! Why? Because of the mozzies and he gets eaten alive! If we had Para Kitos, it would make life soooooo much easier on our regular trips away for him!

After seeing the scarring on my daughter legs from her scratching the allergic mozzie bites, I wish I had known of this product! Even insect repellent doesn’t keep them away so this looks like an awesome alternative.

  57. Amy Peacock
    17/02/2014 / 1:53 pm

Nothing puts a dampener on outdoor entertaining then when you are eaten alive by mosquitos. Certainly makes unhappy memories of the occasion when you are scatching like crazy for the next week. An insect repellent kit from Para’Kito would make social gatherings fun again and memorable for the right reasons.

    17/02/2014 / 2:12 pm

I must taste like macarons to the mozzies but I end up looking like Rocky Road… Nothing has deterred them and with regular camping trips with my scout group, I’m always looking to try a great new product!

    18/02/2014 / 12:47 pm

I totes need this 🙂 My blood and my girls blood (all 3 of them) is awesome for mozzies! Hubby laughs at us all the time. At the swimming pool where they go for lessons, we get absolutely covered, at night time cause we have an old house with lots of cracks, we get covered! Any time we go camping we come back really sore. Last school holidays I honestly thought I had a tick on the back of my head. Hubby said “Oh yuck its a giant zit” so I relaxed and went to sleep. However, the next day, the familiar sting and soreness told me it was a mozzie! Please me xxx Oh gosh please help! lol!
