Ditched it years ago. on same day my children and I were congratulated for their lovely manners and being so well behaved – a kid who held the door open for them – said “DAD – those kids didn’t say thank you – they are rude.” The Dad agreed and said they were.
I didn’t hear but my sons did – and they told me – whatever 2 out of 3 ain’t bad. To their credit they probably thought the kid was just coming in the door , not holding it open as they exited the building …an op shop and they were distracted holding the goods because I refused a plastic bag.

It’s one of the reasons I just stick to a quick hello to the parents at the school gate. It seems everyone wants to compete with everyone, and I just don’t see how that is a good thing.

I noted long ago that these parents are always mums to very young kids who have not yet experienced the major job of parenting them when they grow. Their ignorance will come back to bite them down the track. Just snigger and move on…
