Get more out of your iPhone with Logitech + GIVEAWAY

17/02/2014 By All Mum Said 59 Comments

We live in a digital world and unfortunately for our bank accounts our devices aren’t indestructible. Those who follow me on facebook will know that only a few weeks ago my phone came to an untimely death thanks to being dropped so when I was offered the opportunity to try out some  of the new Logitech range for iPhones I couldn’t say no. No I have not converted, I am still very much a Samsung lover. My husband however is an i-anything fan and knew he would be up for the challenge. He has been reviewing a few products from Logitech that are full of innovation and help you have an even better experience with your iPhone 5/5S device.

Logitech Case +

It looks stylish with a nice brushed metal backing and is available in a black or grey bumper. He likes that it isn’t too much bigger than the phone so it still feels nice, slim and fits comfortably in your palm. The Case+ fits really well over the phone, it’s nice and tight so there is no concern it will fall off. All of the screen corners and edges are protected by the case with only a small section at the bottom open and inside the case has a soft lining that will protect the back of phone from scratches. Overall it is really good quality.

Logitech Case + Tilt

This case has the above mentioned textured finish with a magnetic back allowing it to stick to metal surfaces like the fridge or side of the car. The 3 fold design holds really well when set up for tilt or just stored on the case thanks to the exceptionally strong magnets. The tilt allows for great angles to watch movies and feels like it is great quality. Available in a range of colours there is bound to be one that takes your fancy. RRP $39.95

Logitech Case + Energy

This clips into the case and has a nice and snug fit so I again I am not concerned that it would just fall off. It sits nicely on the device, has a good shape to it and feels nice to touch however it is a bit thicker but for an extended battery life it is a small price to pay. The case has led power indicators on the back making it easy to know when your energy case is charged and feels of great quality. The only thing I don’t like about it is it runs a different cord than the iPhone charger to charge the case but it is as long as the iPhone cord. RRP $129.95

Logitech Case + Drive

This stylish and compact design makes driving hands-free more convenient allowing the device to be in view with minimal fuss. The suction to the windscreen is great and requires nothing more than the flick of your wrist when you want to remove it. The strong magnet allows your iPhone to securely attach with one touch and without the need of clips or brackets. It can be easily adjusted to suit your angle preference and feels like it is great quality. RRP $69.95

Overall the Logitech Case + Tilt would be favourite of the above because it is used more frequently (every day to be specific) and because it sticks to the phone with the magnet I don’t have to take anything extra with me. It’s a great all in one that is easy transportable. For more information on the Logitech Case+ products click over to the website.

Colour of prize is randomly selected.

Keep it cool with LiFE!

16/02/2014 By All Mum Said Leave a Comment

Summer and spring weekends are always full of outings with the family and buying food and/or drinks every time is just way too costly. We found this out very quickly. So we started loading up the drink cooler with goodies for lunch, snacks and of course drinks which has evidently saved us a fortune! Finding a cooler that keeps things cold for the whole day though can be tough. For the past month we have been using an portable cooler from the new LiFE! range and it has had to work hard. It has been expected to combat the 40 degree heat and keep everything cold for more than a few hours. It has been packed up at around 9am and has returned home around 7pm.

Yes some of the ice didn’t make it BUT for approx. 8 hours in the excessive heat with kids opening and closing it all day I feel it did a fantastic job. The leftover drinks were still cold when we got home. With dimensions of: 37 x 25.5 x 36cm it fits up to 24 cans and is the perfect size to use as a seat. This makes it a great esky for not only day trips with the family but also camping and BBQ’s. LiFE! have brought back the retro tinny cooler but made it better than ever. For more information on where to purchase the esky click here to see the website. We love our Tinny cooler and would purchase another one without hesitation.

Summer is Soon to End, But It Doesn’t Mean Nights Outdoors Have to

14/02/2014 By All Mum Said 2 Comments

One of the wonderful things about summer is enjoying summer evenings outdoors. Families often eat outside and spend happy hours relaxing in the outdoor area. With the end of summer many families head indoors and put away ideas of outside evenings until the warmer months reappear. But there are so many excellent outdoor heating options available that there really is no need to stop spending nights outdoors in the cooler weather.

Barbeques Galore Australia has a number of efficient and attractive outdoor heating options for those who enjoy evenings out of doors. Here are a few options that will keep you warm and cosy while enjoying outdoor evenings in the cooler months.

The Brazier

Braziers are good old fashioned outdoor heating devices. They are inexpensive to buy and also add great atmosphere to your outdoors. They are made from tempered steel that is usually painted or power-coated in black so they will fit in with any outdoor décor. You can buy briquettes to use as fuel. These are not expensive and very efficient at producing heat. Once the briquettes are lit they will look great; the glowing embers will provide atmosphere as well as warmth. You will need to watch the kids though as braziers are hot to touch.

The Fire Pit

Fire Pits are enjoying a return to popularity. Your family will get a lot of enjoyment relaxing around the fire pit and it will keep you all warm. Fire pits use wood, charcoal or heat beads for fuel. They are usually bowl shaped and made of tempered steel. They do get hot, so again you will need to watch the kids. Fire pits add some enchantment to outdoor evenings, a great place to gather to tell stories and spin tales. A fire pit allows you the advantages of having an outdoor fire without the mess or the damage to your yard.

The Mexican Chiminea

Chimineas are basically outdoor wood burning heaters. They were traditionally made from clay but are now available in cast iron as well. They vary in size and are one of the least expensive ways of providing outdoor heat. They provide a gentle ambience to your outdoor area and will keep you warm. The outside of the chiminea will get hot, so care should be taken that no one touches it.

Outdoor Gas Patio Heater

Gas patio heaters have become increasingly common in outdoor settings, both commercially and in people’s home. This is because they are very efficient at spreading radiant heat into the surrounding air. The area they heat will depend on the size of the heater, but they can warm a reasonably large area, up to around 5 metres. They are also very safe as the hot part of the heater is well above children’s reach. They are not great in windy conditions though. They are usually hooked up to a gas bottle that sits neatly within the heating unit.

How to Successfully Return to the Workforce after Having Kids

09/02/2014 By All Mum Said Leave a Comment

Returning to the workforce after having kids can be daunting. Depending how long you have been out of the workplace, you may find your confidence a little challenged. For anyone who has been engulfed in nappies and feed-times, the thought of going back into a professional environment can create anxiety.

Fears are generally twofold. It is common to be afraid that you will no longer have what it takes to make it in the workplace. Being ensconced in all things children can make you wonder if you will ever be able to keep up in the professional adult world again. Secondly, many parents returning to work fear that they will not be able to do everything; maintain house and children and work. Guilt is a common emotion for parents returning to the workforce.

My 1st day back at work after being a stay at home mum for 6 years.

There are steps you can take to help make your journey back to work easier and more successful. Here are some of them.

Rethink Your Options

Before you return to work, think about what kind of career you want to pursue. Don’t necessarily assume that you should go back to what you were doing before you had children. Think about what you love to do, where your talents lie, what gives you satisfaction and consider a career in that area. Too many parents return to their old job without giving it a second thought. Use your re-entry into the workforce as an opportunity to reassess what you want from your career.

New Priorities

You may want to find work that offers more flexible hours and you may want to work closer to home to avoid long commutes. Your priorities will probably have changed and you may find you value more time at home over a higher pay rate. Think about what is most important to you now and what is least important and look for a job where you can get your highest needs met.

Get Prepared

Don’t let a lack of training put you off. You can gain the qualifications you need for a new career path by studying from home. This is an excellent way to get your mind back into work mode. Vocational training and study can open up a whole new world of opportunities to you post-baby. If you are interested in finding out more about vocational training options and what career paths they can lead to, go online and check this out for details of costs and learning delivery modes. Most training programs are self-paced, a great option for people with families.

Update your Resume

You need to revisit your pre-baby resume and make changes. Get some professional advice on creating a ‘stand out’ CV that will get you a job interview. Your resume is extremely important, so make sure it is up to date. Don’t forget to mention new skills you have acquired through your time parenting, including any courses you may have completed. Perhaps it’s time to add some new design elements to the layout?

Back to School with That! + GIVEAWAY

03/02/2014 By All Mum Said 79 Comments

For most families school is now back into full swing and life is returning back to its normal routine. In our home the afternoons consist of homework, outside play, dinner, showers and the making of lunches in preparation for the next day. I try and mix their lunch options up to keep it exciting and interesting but the one thing that is always requested is something from the That! range. They don’t care if it’s a That! Dairy Snack or a That! Milkshake, they just want one of them which is quite alright by me because I know that they are a healthier option in comparison to many other products in terms of kids lunch snacks. I like the fact they are convenient, great portion sizes and the kids will always eat them meaning no transferring them from lunch box to fridge continually like many of their yoghurts do!

As I have mentioned previously on Mad Mummas blog That! Dairy Snack is lunch box friendly, it’s gluten free, contains no preservatives and is a great source of calcium (made with Aussie Milk!) and is 98% fat free. The fact it doesn’t require refrigeration and can be enjoyed straight from the cupboard makes it ideal for not only school but also car trips, camping and when on the go. If you haven’t already tried them make sure you enter the giveaway below for your chance to win some or if you can’t wait that long add them to your shopping list this week! *That! are also running a giveaway on their website so once you have entered the one below pop over and enter that one too!* and just to sweeten the deal a little more enter their facebook giveaway away as well.
