Child Car Safety + Amazing Giveaway!

23/12/2012 By All Mum Said 75 Comments

Choosing a car seat for your babies and/or children is always a big decision as there is nothing quite as important as child safety, especially in the car. There are so many different brands, styles and stages of car seats that it does make it extremely difficult to decide which is best for your family. It tends be the woman/mother who purchases and installs the car seat and I believe more men/fathers need to be more aware of the importance of these contraptions. I am pretty lucky; my husband has always shown a huge interest into the safety of our boys in the car and installed them almost each and every time they are required to be done.

Maxi-Cosi Hera

I have been fortunate enough to be sent a new and innovative product on the market that combines the new technology of Air Protect with practicality and style. Maxi-Cosi protects your childs head from side impact reducing crash forces that may occur through the precise release of air. It is officially one of the worlds safest car seats as it has surpassed the worlds toughest safety tests and not only that but the Air Protect well and truly exceeds Australian testing (which is one of the strictest in the world). I received the Maxi-Cosi Hera to review which is perfect for newborn-4years. It is brilliant as it is suitable for all ages until they require a booster seat. It is soft and padded enough that the baby can enjoy long drives but still firm enough that it supports them. It has so many benefits that I cannot list them all but my favourites are the 6 point harness and tether strap, the machine washable covers (this is a must for me!), 3 adjustable base positions and of the course the new Air Protect technology. This seat will be perfect for the new addition to our family when it arrives; our 3 year old has given it a good go and has had only one thing to say about it – “It’s so soft!”. When he falls asleep in the car the air pockets are great as well because they act like a built in pillow – no more stiff necks!

As you can see this is very popular with me and I’m so pleased I have had the opportunity to learn about this new product and at the perfect time to add the cherry on the top. As I mentioned before the prices of car seats do vary and while this particular seat retails for $449 I would say it is a very smart investment, if this is above your budget don’t fret as there are cheaper models that provide the same Air Protect technology. See website here.

Did I mention I have 1x Air Protect car seat of choice from the website (valued at $200-$500) to giveaway to one lucky reader? Well I do!

Its perfect timing for my 3.5 year old to swap to a bigger car seat. With her habit of dozing off every time the car moves, I want to ensure she can sleep in comfort without spraining her neck. This range of car seats sounds so tempting I might have to check it out!

This would be a helpful cost relief, as we need to buy the next stage up for my daughter. The cost of a carseat is nothing compared to the safety of my children in a car, however it is something that would help us come January and February when we have the biggest bills of the year come in.

My little boy is easy to fall asleep in the car. Maxi-Cosi Hera’s air pockets would help him protect his neck while sleeping. Meanwhile he loves soft things. He prefers sleeping on the quilt than directly on the mattress. I’m sure he would love this soft car seat. For me, really adore machine washable covers. My boy sweats a lot like his dad. But our car seat cover can’t be taken off for washing. I always use wet wipe to clean it. Snot, sweat and saliva, OMG, I can’t 100% clean off these nasty fluids, which makes me worry about germ, mould…Maxi-Cosi Hera is what I’m after!

We have a good quality (read = expensive) booster seat in my car but a cheap foam one in hubby’s car. He took it out to vacuum, master four leaned back in it while it was on the ground, and the whole seat snapped in half through the middle. So now we’re doing the car seat shuffle between cars. Until one day we forget and one of us drives off with it in our car and the other is at home with R. Then what?

He still has no idea on how these seats work. Its always up to be because he can’t work it out! Along with the change table, cot, pram and now the trampoline! All of which I put together.

Give him the tv remote and a pizza, he can work that out! But never a single bolt and strap on a car seat..

I’ve tried travel pillows but they just fall out or she throws them. I have no idea how she actually manages to sleep in the car, especially with the way I drive.

I bought a second-hand AHR Meridian Safe n Sound for my daughter when she was born. It’s been wonderful, but she’s rapidly reaching the upper height markers. She’s just turned 2, and I thought it would last until she was 4! I’ve been looking into carseats, and the Maxi-cosi Goliath keeps coming up as a very good choice. I love that it’s a narrower seat design – we use the carseat in the front of the ute for farm work and working trips, as well as the car. So not only does the carseat need to be easy to switch around, but it also needs to be as narrow as possible for the one squished in the middle.. normally me! With a carseat one side, husband on the other, and the gears right in front of me (I’ll spare you the finer details.. just lucky no-one else has had to drive apart from him!), I really don’t have much room to move at all! And I’m not getting any smaller… I’d love to win one of these, as it would do us for the next 6 years, in comfort (mine included!) and style :)

When I got cluck cluck clucky 8 years after our last baby it was bad timing as we had given away all our baby gear. So we decided to be savvy shoppers and “only buy what we truly need” so that’s what we did. That meant we decided to only buy one car seat for my car and just swap and change to hubbys car when needed. Welllllll can I say, it is just such a painful thing to do over and over. Unclick the seat belt, unclick the anchor, put it in the other car, strap everything down again and put your weight into it to make sure it’s tight enough. Arrggggg not something you want to do in a hurry. So I have decided we need a a 2nd seat and just like magic, a friend posted a link to your competition on facebook. Fate!

I would appreciate a new car seat as when we had our baby we prioritized our spending and bought a car seat that was on sale. In six months the strap protectors have frayed, the seat belts keep getting twisted, the cover has pilled and looks terrible and worst of all, she doesn’t appear to have any neck/head support. She always looks uncomfortable when we travel. I would love to give bub an Air Protect car seat as is both comfortable, safe and able to be easily cleaned as she also experiences reflux.

My children’s safety is my upmost priority! I have a 13 month old who is still rear facing and my second bub due in a few weeks. We have not purchased a second seat yet as we wanted to do our research and not rush into a sale that may not neseccarily be the best for our bubs safety. The one time that I feel I have no control over my baby’s safety is when we are in the car! I can do all I can to make sure I follow road rules etc however I am cannot ensure that the hundreds of thousands of other drivers out there are doing the same, therefore I feel I need to give my babies the best car seat out there to protect them when I can’t. The air protect technology sounds great and is something we have been looking into. Thank you for the opportunity to enter this competition to keep my most precious little people safe.

I would love to get a new carseat for my baby. When we got ours we didn’t have a lot of spare money and therefore just bought some cheapies from Target, I mean they adhere to the safety standards, but nothing beyond that. We’d love to get a new quality and safer seat for our son to use in the car. Will put my mind at ease.

    Any
    Infant/ baby
    Really deserves to be
    Protected.
    Restraining in seats is
    One of
    The most
    Easiest ways to
    Cease
    Troublesome accidents.

Our three little monkeys all in the back seat,
A sneaky click means one of them’s found their feet!
Freaking out as we quickly pull over to see,
Which of our children is channeling Houdini!
It’s usually our cheeky little Miss Three,
The cheapo carseat allows her to become an escapee!
Safety when traveling is a high priority,
We need a new carseat that’s good quality!
But the budget is stretched as tightly as can be,
So our fingers are crossed to win the Air Protect Maxi-Cosi!

My children’s safety is my primary concern,
An Air Protect seat would cushion them with every turn,
It also grows with them and has stylish looks,
A wonderful carseat in anyone’s book!

Because my little girl looked over my shoulder as I was looking at the airprotect website and squealed with delight as mummy was looking at LELLOW (she insists it’s not yellow for her absolutely favourite colour no matter what anyone says). Then I had to show her all the website pages whilst she hunts for yet more LELLOW. Yes de don’t have a LELLOW car, but can guess what she is always asking for. So moving her into a new car seat, with the possibility of LELLOW (even just the airprotect label) would be pure joy for her
