DreamBaby Bed Rail Review + Giveaway

11/02/2015 By All Mum Said 38 Comments

There comes a point when every toddler transitions from a cot to a big bed and most parents biggest concern is that their child will fall out. Well that and will they actually stay in bed. Poppet has made this transition and thankfully she loves her new ‘big girl’ bed. We did however need to get a safety rail as the bed isn’t exactly low and should she have fallen out, it would have hurt. Dreambaby heard that Poppet was going from the cot to a bed and kindly offered me one of theirs. Below you can read the Dreambaby Bed Rail review and of course because Dreambaby are so generous they have offered another one for a giveaway!

DreamBaby Bed Rail Review

As I would expect from Dreambaby, the quality is second to none. This particular bed rail is an impressive 109 cm wide and 45.5 cm high. The odds of your little one falling out with this rail are pretty slim. As you can see in the picture of Poppets’ bed, there isn’t much of the bed left to fall from.

This is extremely easy to install and as it is already assembled in the box all you have to do is put it in the required spot and the safety anchors hold it in place. Requiring no tools to fit it means it is easily portable. One of my favourite features is the breathable mesh. My daughter moves around a lot when she sleeps and her face often pushes against the rail but thanks to the breathable mesh she can still breathe and I don’t fear her suffocating.

The  Dreambaby bed rail actually folds down as well which makes for easy bed making however this doesn’t suit all beds. The bed Poppet has isn’t quite high enough that it can be left down when she is not sleeping but it isn’t far off. Again, makes for easy bed making though.

For more information on the Dreambaby bed rail including stockists check out the Dreambaby website.

At the moment my biggest night time struggle is getting her to stay in her cot all night and not end up in our bed. A few weeks ago she was sick + teething and spent a lot of nights in our bed because she just wanted to sleep with mummy. Now its taking us a while to get her to spend the whole night in her cot again because she wants to be with me. Most nights she ends up in our bed between 3-5am because she won’t settle back in her cot, but I know we’ll get back to her staying in her cot all night because we’ve done it before.

This is a great prize Kell and one we’ll need pretty soon as I don’t think the cot is going to cut it for much longer. She definitely wants to be in a big bed.

Just thinking about this makes me laugh. I know this is not about a toddler but…. there is nothing like hearing a baby stir for what you think will be a feed but they do a MASSIVE sleep poo. The sound is ammusing but the clean up at 3am and the mess and re settling basically the whole family can be a nightmare, I find it takes me a good 30-40 minutes to get back to sleep. It’s a jump andcrun to save the sleeping bag and sheets situation.

Calming down a very wound up little boy so he actually sleeps. It’s like he’s on speed 24/7, even when tired.

I would love to win this for my daughter who will be soon going into a big girl bed. She is restless at night and I fear she will fall out of bed. This rail would be wonderful peace of mind for me, I’ve heard great reviews about this product and would love to win!

My battle is getting my darling to go to sleep and when she does to stay there. At the moment her try is to put her arm though the rails of her cot, so I have to get her out.

Getting L to sleep through. I think she did it once at just under 4mths! I still wake up a few times a night to comfort her. She’s also been co-sleeping with us as I have found it easier with the constant waking this way. However, now that we are thinking about having bub #2, we have tried to move her to her room at night. It’s actually been successful the past 2wks, but I just still need to do the long, tiring walk to her room those few times a night. The hardest thing has been the bed though! I’ve put all blankets and pillows on the floor in case she falls out as I haven’t bought one of these handy looking rails yet. I also put a pillow at the edge of the bed as a type of barrier for when she rolls about lol. She hasn’t fallen yet! But gosh it’s annoying cleaning up all the pillows and blankets off the floor in the mornings haha!

Although being sleeping, my girl like crawling here and there. I have to keep awake a bit, since I need to check she is where. I have to move her If I find that she is close to the edge of the bed. One night is fine, but many nights make me so tired.

Now I lay him down to sleep,
I hope asleep that he will keep.
    Another night of him awake,
Does for a crazy mummy make.
A restless sleeper’s what he is,
Who won’t stay in that bed of his.
It makes him angry so it seems,
He can’t visit the land of dreams.
Legs are kicking, arms do flail,
Dreambaby give him your Bed Rail
To keep him sleeping in his bed,
So I can relax, clear my head.

I often hear a “thump” throughout the night,
From bed to floor there’s 1.3 metres in height,
My tyke often awakes with a bump or a bruise,
It’s overdue for him to have an uninterrupted snooze!
He wakes each and every school morning depleted!
With a “DreamBaby Harrogate Bed Rail” I’m sure this concern can be defeated!

Monsters come out at dark. Now, I do have monster spray for Master 5 (handy-dandy lavender water) but it’s only effective against *closet* monsters and not window monsters. So when the window monsters bite on toes (their favourite snack), Master 5 must get up and tell everyone about it. Midnight, 2am, no problems. Getting him back into bed when the monsters are nibbling is a struggle.

My struggle is with myself – after losing our daughter at eight months of age, our son slept in our room until three. Moving him to his own bed makes me nervous – a dream baby bed rail would placate one of my fears.

On a few occasions I’ve heard a THUMP to find Miss 3 having rolled out of bed and onto the floor, luckily we have carpet, no bunk beds and no injuries from the incidences! This experience has certainly made me check on her at every opportunity, even during the wee hours to make sure she is well positioned not to roll. It also was the basis of entry into this fab comp. A Dreambaby Bed Rail may just be our solutions to avoid another roll out of bed.
