He Is A Happy Camper!
He Is A Happy Camper!
I’m going to keep this post short and sweet.
We survived! I have to give C credit he embraced every second of camping or he hid it extremely well if he didn’t. Actually we all did – C, the boys, myself and our friends. C seemed to enjoy everything from putting up the tent to lighting the fire (he may have required some extra help for this bit) but he was a trooper. My eldest son D was trying to light the fire by rubbing two sticks together – he kicks it old school!
We went fishing and the boys loved it (it was their first time). They got to watch me thread the worm onto the hook and then helped them cast it. Unfortunately we didn’t catch anything but they learnt so much about nature and the fascination in their eyes was great. K (the youngest) is definitely more of a nature child then D but it was a learning experience for us all. They went and found marshmallow sticks, the good ones that you can toast two at once. They were delicious – the marshmallows not the sticks!
The view was amazing and the air was fresh. The strange but rather liberating thing was that there was no phone signal where we were so that meant no texting, calls, Facebook, twitter, blogging, etc. It was quite nice for two days not to have the distraction but I think I would go a little stir crazy if I had to do it for much longer than that.
The boys enjoyed using their glow sticks (that were for safety reasons) pffft they were, but they had so much fun with them so that is all that matters. C used his self-inflating mattress and actually slept in the tent all night! It was amazing to see that he wasn’t in the car when I woke in the morning.
So that pretty much sums it up. It was a lot of fun and we will definitely be doing it again at some stage down the track!

We love to go camping! We have been doing it since before the girls were born & we will do family camping trips even when we have Grandchildren. Our kids remember every camp we have been on because as georgia says, “They are the bestest times of her life!” It is a great way to spend family time with no interruptions.
Jos xx
I have to agree, its great family time. Our boys will never forget it – they havent stopped asking if we can go again!
So glad he loosened up & enjoyed himself a bit! Sounds like the kids had a blast! I can’t wait to take our boys but my hubby has turned a bit precious too 😛
hehehe. He didn’t complain once so it was even better then I could have ever expected. haha precious men 😛
Glad you had such a fun time. I struggle with camping – but could almost be swayed with a few packets of marshmallows (and a lot of wine)!
We did have the esky full of drinks and packets stacked on packets of marshmallows! It was everything you could ever want
Wow! I have to bow down to C… I love camping but there is no way I’d ever sleep on a an air mattress. Perhaps I’m just getting too set in my ways… but I adore my camper trailer. Thankfully, so does the other half!
Mind you, my kids would go camping every week if they could. *sigh*
Glad it was an all over positive experience!! 😀
Im amazed he didnt sllep in the car, maybe he did and just snuck into the tent before I woke up. hahaha
now that has gotten me interested in camping..
except then I think about all the ickyness of bugs and mozzies and all sorts of creepycrawlies…
Maybe I’ll hire a wood cabin in the middle of no where instead
Surprisingly we didnt really come across any bugs or mozzies, I did keep spraying RID on the kids and I but never got bitten s its a win. A wooden cabin would be pretty cool too, might look into that too.
Oh we love camping, and I would love it even more of we could go somewhere beautiful like that! So nice to get away from everything and be in nature. I love it.
I am amazed at how beautiful the place was! It was gorgeous from the first second so that probably made it easier. The kids loved it too, C coped but wants to do it again so I win – again. hehehe
looks like a great place to go. We all love camping here, just never seem to find enough time to go.
Fairy wishes and butterfly kisses

Time is something we usually lack but thought it was something we needed to make time for. It was gorgeous and so much fun. Thanks for commenting
Is there anything better in life than toasted marshmallows on the campfire? Bliss!
Ummm, toasted marshallows with a cold vodka or gass of wine on the side?

Love that photo of them playing with glowsticks ! And the view ! Wow! So glad to hear you had an awesome time. Can’t wait to go camping when our boys are a little bigger.
And well done on the complete disconnection to social media !
We all need to do that once in a while
The view was incredible (as you can see) and the lack of social media is definately a must every once in a while. Im sure you will have so much fun when your boys are a little bigger
Thanks for the comment love
I can’t wait to go camping with my little family. We went once when Millar was about 14 months old. It was horrible. It was either freezing or boiling hot at any given time inside the crap tent. but this was Xmas in New Zealand.
I’ll be pitching our new tent in the backyard when we get home to Australia.
Hahaha pitching it in the backyard is a great idea if you want to see how the littlies will go before taking the leap. Thanks for your comment
Camping looks like so much fun. Sometimes I think it would be awesome to just completely get away from everything and just spend some time bonding as a family. May wait til MM is a little older first though
It is a lot of fun. It is great when you see the kids enjoying themselves and getting involved. I hope you have a lot of fun camping when MM is bigger
I’m really not a camper, not unless the camping comes with a working loo and a shower block. No hole in the ground for me! I’m just a bit too precious LOL I am looking forward to some tent or camper van action with our growing family one day. Well, maybe just an on site cabin 😛
Believe it or not where we went had showers and toilets. Couldn’t really go all Bear Grills on C straight up. hehehe. It was beautiful, fresh and so much fun. If your unsure of camping definately go with cabin or camp with the toilet and shower (just incase)
