ABC Kids DVDs Review + Giveaway

There comes a time when children need to take a break from the busy lives they live and enjoy some time out on the couch watching their favourite movies. Most recently my daughter (who has just turned two) has discovered she doesn’t quite mind sitting and enjoying half an hour of TV here and there, which has been a welcomed addition to her brothers. Thanks to ABC Kids I can now enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a few minutes to myself.

Poppet has been loving The Wiggles: Anthony’s Fruity Feast. The latest Wiggles movie to hit the shelves, released on 3rd June 2015. With 12 episodes on this 140 minute long DVD, she is happy to watch a couple at a time before moving onto other activities. RRP $19.95.

Absolutely loving trains at the moment, Poppet has also taken a great interest in Thomas the Tank. So naturally she was thrilled when Thomas and Friends: Trouble On The Tracks started to play on the DVD player for her. Also released on June 3rd 2015 this 81 minute DVD features 7 episodes. RRP $19.95.

Cinders and ashes…there’s trouble on the tracks for Thomas and his friends. The Troublesome Trucks delight in causing chaos for Thomas, as Annie, Clarabel and Toad encounter unexpected high-speed adventures.

Octonauts is a household favourite here. The boys loved it and now their love has also been passed to their little sister. What is not to love in the new Octonauts DVD though? Octonauts: Great Artic Adventure is full of exciting new journeys and missions. Released on June 3rd 2015 this 82 minute DVD features 6 fantastic episodes. RRP $19.95.

Sex & Secrets – The Little Death + DVD Giveaway

The Little Death. The impression I get from the name of this movie is so far from what it actually is. The Little Death is not actually about death at all; it is moment the French call ‘la petite mort’ or better known as an orgasm. Yep that’s right orgasm. This Australian comedy about relationships, sex, love and everything taboo will have you in stitches from laughter. If you enjoyed Love My Way and Offspring then you are going to love The Little Death.

Orgasms and fantasies are not often talked about out in the open but The Little Death has you wanting to know more. The taboo topics are laid out for the world to see and what we see, we love. From the first 5 seconds of this movie I was hooked, it doesn’t tip toe around issues and confronts them head on. This laugh out loud comedy looks at the sex lives of 5 ordinary couples living in suburbia and you will be shocked, surprised and moved by their relationships. While it is humorous, it also has a sense of realism. These five couples could be your neighbours, brother, co-workers or even yourself.

Foot fetishes are only the beginning of these sexual pleasures. When a dangerous fantasy is shared by Maeve, her partner Paul struggles to make it a reality for her. Another woman Rowena can only find complete sexual pleasure when her husband Richard is in pain. Phil has an affair with his own wife Maureen without her even knowing! Monika the call centre operator for the deaf gets caught in the middle of a dirty sex chat call while Dan and Evie try to reignite their spark through role play. And it wouldn’t be complete without the attention diverting new neighbour who connects them all.

With an incredible cast you will see some familiar faces: Josh Lawson (Anchorman 2, House of Lies, Any questions for Ben?), Bojana Novakovic (Rake, Charlie’s Country, Satisfaction), Damon Herriman (The Water Diviner, Candy), Lisa McCune (Blue Heelers, Sea Patrol), Patrick Brammall (Offspring, The Moodys), Kim Gyngell (Full Frontal, The Librarians) and Lachy Hulme (Offspring, Howzat!, The Hollowmen).

Veep Season 2 Review + Giveaway

Anyone who knows me personally will tell you I am a TV series junkie. I love discovering new shows and last week I was introduced to another comedy; the hit TV Series, Veep.

For those who aren’t familiar with it; leading lady Julia Louis-Dreyfus (known for her characters in Seinfeld, The New Adventures of Old Christine and now of course Veep) plays Vice President Selina Meyer. While it is a political based show, it is nothing like you would expect. Personal issues, government dramas, personality clashes and uproarious quotes make Veep a must watch TV Series.

My initial thoughts when I read it was about politicians was ‘Snooze-fest, not sure this is not for me’, however after watching just one episode of Veep season 2 I was hooked. To be completely honest I enjoyed a Veep marathon to catch up on what I had been missing out on, I started at season 1 and didn’t stop until I had finished.

It is hilarious watching the VP try to improve her popularity and boost her influence while her staff {Tony Hale – Arrested Development, Anna Chlumsky – In The Loop, Matt Walsh – Hung, Reid Scott – My Boys, Timothy Simons – Days Together and Sufe Bradshaw – Overnight} (some of which are not the sharpest tool in the shed) are right by her side in an attempt to assist. Veep is full of dry, wet-your-pants humour (which is often crass from the mouth of the VP) and I absolutely love it!!

In Season 2 of Veep, Meyer overtakes the President in the popularity polls and is expectantly thrilled with the results. In her efforts and best intentions to maintain her influence something always seems to go disastrously wrong. It always starts out as a slip of the tongue or something mundane but inevitably sets off a chain reaction of unexpected consequences. Selina Meyers has the mouth of a sailor and as she gets closer to the top job her ambition to reach this goal dominates her daughters discontent.

The hit TV Series Veep, will have you laughing out loud and wanting to know what happens next.  A definite must watch for the comedy lover.

The LEGO Movie Giveaway

Everyone has heard of the LEGO Movie and those who haven’t have obviously been living under a rock! Whether you have seen it or not there is no denying that it is a hit with kids (big and small). Mr C took B1 and B2 to see it at the cinema when it was first released and they absolutely loved it! How could they not? Everything is awesome! So it was no surprise that when it was released we had to had it on DVD as well so they could watch it on repeat for what seemed like months on end, ok so maybe it wasn’t that bad. My kids along with so many others are LEGO obsessed so it was only natural that LEGO would create a LEGO movie to fuel the interest the savages have (more commonly known as children).

I watched the LEGO Movie after a week of owning the DVD and I must say it was great. I really enjoyed it. I like that kids movies these days have got that element of adult humour in them as well, or maybe it has always been there and I’m only just understanding the jokes now. Either way I can totally see why it is a favourite amongst the kids. The characters have their own personalities and unique styles, the detail that is in every single scene and piece of LEGO is absolutely amazing. You will find all your favourites in the LEGO movie as well (I don’t think they missed anyone!) – Emmet, Wyldstyle, Batman, Frank the Foreman, Unikitty, Good cop – Bad cop, chef, President business and so many more.
