Setting Up House with Kmart + GIVEAWAY

12/08/2013 By All Mum Said 116 Comments

It was almost 10 years ago that my husband and I first moved out of home and into our very own place. I remember it like it was only a few years ago, I guess I’m really showing my age considering we have 3 kids and the eldest is 6 and a half. From memory we didn’t have anything new, we stocked our love nest with hand-me-downs and as grateful as we are/were for people so kindly donating their old stuff to us we would have loved some new things for our home. Unfortunately we were broke after paying rent and groceries so pretty things were out of the question. When my sister moved out and into her own place we took to Kmart to get some essentials and I found that things were so much more affordable now than what they were when I left home. Not only the essentials but they have now also got an extended Kmart Living range which consists of basically anything and everything you could want for your home at ridiculously low prices.

As you can see there are a great deal of items that are perfect to set you up or even just change the atmosphere of your home. There is everything you could want for your kitchen – dinner sets, pots/pans, tea towels, utensils, containers, small fridges, chopping boards, toasters, kettles, baking trays, etc. The Living range is so versatile and consists of everything from bathroom goods, storage, lamps, décor, cushions, rugs, towels, TV units, coffee tables, bed linen and the list just goes on. Check out your local Kmart or even online for the latest products for your home.

Oh I forgot to mention I have a $100 Kmart gift card to giveaway to one very lucky reader of Mad Mummas.

To enter all you have to do is follow the instructions on the rafflecopter below. Winner is decided based on skill and chance plays no part. Australian residents only! Sorry everyone else. **The mandatory instructions MUST be completed or your entry will be void!**

Keeping Hydrated With Water Buddies + GIVEAWAY

09/08/2013 By All Mum Said 31 Comments

As a mum I try to limit the amount of sugar and additives that my kids consume. Drinks are a hard one as they are really only limited to water and plain milk. Like any kids mine like to mix it up and change things on occasion like adding cordial which we all know contains enough sugar to give them a high for the next week. I love finding alternatives that are good for them as well as fun and interesting. They recently tried Water Buddies which both them and I are thrilled about! You can find them at Woolworths for $1.99.

Amazingly Water Buddies contain 80% less sugar than most oranges juices which makes them a fantastic option for kids. They are actually made from pure New Zealand water with no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners and just a dash of natural flavour. Each flavour has an exciting character and every bottle has a joke or fun fact on the side so it keeps kids entertained as well as hydrated. Did I mention it contains less than 2% sugar per 100ml? Well it does! My boys loved their Water Buddies and drank them that fast I didn’t get a chance to taste them but I’m told they are deliciously awesome! The website contains a heap of fun stuff for the kids as well – find it here and facebook here.

If you haven’t yet tried them and want to or you have and you loved them you can win yourself a Water Buddy Goodie Pack – valued at $40!

To enter all you have to do is follow the instructions on the rafflecopter below. Winner is decided based on skill and chance plays no part. Australian residents only! Sorry everyone else. **The mandatory instructions MUST be completed or your entry will be void!**

Hit Nitz 4 6 Review + GIVEAWAY

05/08/2013 By All Mum Said 18 Comments

For the past couple of weeks my boys have been using a daily control head lice spray from Hit Nitz 4 6. For some reason they seem to attract these itchy little critters so when I was emailed to give the Hit Nitz 4 6 products a try I jumped at the chance especially after learning that a recent study comparing a range of different head lice products has resulted in Hit Nitz 4 6 coming out on top as the leader of infestation prevention. I was also blissfully unaware that 20-40% of Australian Primary School children are infected with head lice at any one time! With this in mind I have been holding off writing this review until they got nits again so they could use the ‘Once Off’ head lice lotion and I could give a true assessment on it but they haven’t gotten them again. This could be pure luck or it could be because they have been getting their hair sprayed with the ‘Daily Control’ head lice spray as mentioned above.

So here is what I do know – since using the spray my kids have not come home with nits. The daily control spray should be used every day (as the name suggests) and consists of 100% natural products which is great as it gets used so close to faces. You get a lot of use out of the 250ml spray bottle and it’s very easy and convenient to use. Simply spray the hair and go about your day as normal.

Since I haven’t been able to use the head lice lotion I can tell you some information about it. It smells pleasant and as it contains natural ingredients doesn’t have that toxic aroma. No combing is required – simply put it on dry hair and wash off after 4 hours or put it in before bed and rinse off in the morning. These come in 250ml bottles as well but you only get a couple of uses out of the bottle. If you have short hair like my boys (just long enough to spike it up) you will get 2 treatments but if you have long hair you will need a new bottle each time.

Out of the 2 products the daily spray is my favourite for the simple fact it lasts a lot longer, it’s quick and the nits have not come back since using it. You can buy these online or in stores. They retail for: ‘Once Off’ Head Lice Lotion – $19.95 and the ‘Daily Control’ Head Lice Spray – $22.95. The more you buy the cheaper they are. Overall I am I very happy with the Hit Nitz 4 6 Head Lice Solutions and would recommend anyone with school kids to give this a try!

Now onto the giveaway! I have 2x sets of Hit Nitz 4 6 products to giveaway to 2 lucky readers. (1 set each)

To enter all you have to do is follow the instructions on the rafflecopter below.

A Hot & Steamy Review

03/08/2013 By All Mum Said 2 Comments

For those of you who don’t know me in real life I do not iron. Ever. Ok well only if I’m going out somewhere nice and the clothes I plan on wearing cannot be hung and the wrinkles fall out themselves. Yep I’m that person. I don’t know whether it is coincidence or not but the majority of my clothes seem to be made to suit my laziness life. I have never understood how people can find ironing relaxing or enjoyable to the point that they want to sit down with mountains of washing and iron for hours at a time.

So when I received an email asking if I wanted to try out the new Philips PerfectCare Aqua iron I thought maybe I’m missing something. Maybe there really is something relaxing about ironing. Or maybe it will still be as boring as I thought it was years ago. I figured I’ve got nothing to lose and this clothes iron looks like a beast of a thing! Surely it’s going to be awesome. How could it not be when it claims to be a revolutionary steam generator?

Lock feature for child safety and transporting

What did I think of this steam station you ask? Well I found there were both pros and cons to this steam iron. As you can see the station for this iron is quite bulky and I was a little concerned at how much room it was going to take up on the ironing board but the iron itself is light and easy to use. I am still trying to get used to the idea of leaving the iron laying face-down on the ironing board or in the station as habit and everything I’ve ever been taught says that it will burn. Amazingly it doesn’t! I do have a few favourite features that I have to share – I love that it doesn’t require adjusting of settings for different fabrics, the PerfectCare Aqua iron maintains the perfect combination of temperature and steam which allows you to swap between materials without worrying about it burning. I did try this out on a few old pieces of clothing that wouldn’t bother me if they got ruined and I’m happy to say the only thing that happened to them is that they are now completely crease free! This iron just glides over the clothes like no iron I’ve ever used before.

Easy de-calcify feature

I must confess to playing with the steam function a bit – ok so maybe it was a lot but it is just a lot of fun. Pssshhh Pssshhh!! Now I know I said I don’t like ironing but for the sake of this review I may have gone a little overboard and even ironed my sheets. They are now perfectly smooth and crisp! I may not love ironing but I do love this iron. *I must admit my hatred for ironing may stem from only previously owning and using cheap and useless irons.

Disclaimer: I received no cash payment of any kind. I did receive the Philips PerfectCare Aqua iron for the purpose of this review.
