Swaddle your baby, it will help them to sleep better. This is the advice given to most new parents when their newborn is unsettled. Mostly, it’s true and is a miracle for exhausted parents.
Unfortunately, not everyone is skilled in the art of swaddling or have a Houdini baby that believes it doesn’t need to be wrapped up securely and will escape from even your best swaddle attempts.

Award-winning Plum swaddle suits
Taking out Gold in the latest Australian Mother & Baby Magazine Awards for ‘Best Swaddle’, the Plum Swaddle Suits have been tried, tested and voted the best by parents all over Australia.
The Plum swaddle suit secures your precious baby’s arms in a swaddle position, which prevents the startle response, allowing them to sleep better and longer. Also, the double-ended zip comes in to save the day, making it super convenient for when changing time comes.

Plum Swaddle Suit review
Here’s what one of our beautiful mums has to say about the product after putting it to the test with her new baby.
What we love
- It’s “dad proof” – My partner would have no dramas getting our baby into the swaddle and wrapping him up. He can’t swaddle properly with a muslin wrap so I worry about SIDS when he wraps our son before bed, so this would be great for when he has to do it.
- Feet – I love that you can put bubs feet in or out, to warm them up or cool them down.
- Nappy changes – You can change their nappy while they are still swaddled! LOVE this feature.
- Leg movement – I like that their legs and hips are free. My son was in breech for ages and needed hips checked so I love that he has that movement.
- Velcro covers – There is a little flip cover (like the feet) over the coarse Velcro for when you aren’t using it. I like that because then it won’t catch on the baby blankets or my clothes.
- Velcro – The Velcro is the new style Velcro that is smooth to touch, so it won’t scratch bub or mum.
- Fabric – The material is high quality and soft. Exactly what you want for baby clothing.
- Zip covers – Plum have really thought of everything design wise, right down to the little cover over where the zipper sits at the top so it doesn’t scratch the baby.
What we don’t love
I can’t think of anything I didn’t like really.
My baby is asleep during the day and that is rare. Normally I swaddle my baby with interlock or muslin wraps (taught by my mum who was a midwife for 50 years) so these are really good.
Plus they are super cute!

Real mum reviews
Britt says – Pleasantly Surprised!
We were lucky enough to review the “1.0 Tog Sleeping Bag” and here are our thoughts-
- The material is so soft as it is 100% cotton on the outside plus super comfy on the inside so I knew Luca wasn’t going to have a cheap scratchy sleep.
- The snaps made it so easy for him to have his arms out as we have been transitioning to 2 free arms. It also means I don’t have to worry about zipping the arms off and losing them #babybrain.
- There is a zip cover so I know he isn’t going to get the zip in his mouth or eye when he is having a dance party at 3 am in the morning.
- I will definitely be purchasing another bag. This one is a touch too big at the moment but I also love that because I know that the bag will last him for months, not weeks, as he starts to grow and become even chunkier. This means money is well spent and I’m getting the quality I’m paying for.
Thanks so much for having us try the bag! Here a picture of Luca enjoying it just before bed 🙂

Elizabeth says – Definitely a winner for us!
We started using the Plum 1.0 tog sleeping bag for my son (6-18 month size) and have found it to be excellent. The fabric is so soft and much warmer than other 1.0 tog sleeping suits we have tried. The length is amazing – plenty of room to kick around in. We love the animal design too. Definitely a winner for us!

Anna says – The Plum sleeping bag is great!
My 8-month-old fits in it really well with a nice amount of room for him to keep growing in it! Our 2 story home gets quite hot in summer and when we pump the ducted air conditioning my son just needs something light over him at night so this swaddle is perfect as it is a light fabric not too hot! Also, I love that it does not have any sleeves! I tried finding one in a light fabric with no sleeves and this is the only one I could find!

Cute
Houdini babies, yes we had one of the granddaughters who did that, more preferred swaddling or wrapping though!
These are a great idea and the design is cute too 🙂
Hi, I’m Jassy Johnstone of Carseldine and would like to be one of your Mumma Reviewer. I am a mother of 2 (10 and 7 years old daughters) and having another daughter in Jan 2019. As it has been a while since I had my last baby, I feel like I’m going back from the start and worried that it won’t be a smooth sail for me. It’s my first time that I would be swaddling my baby, so it would be challenging, hope your product would help me ( first time swaddled mum) make everything easier.
I love trying out products & providing my honest opinion to the company. I also love telling my friends the products I love using in the hope they too will find use & enjoy them too!
We would love to try this with our 10 week old boy. He has reflux and we’re starting to do an elimination diet (as in mine!) to see if he has CMPI. His sleep is quite unsettled at night and during the day – especially around his older brother – so I’d love to try something that can help him have as settled a sleep as possible!
I’d love to try this swaddle, my little Miss has turned into Houdini and for the sake of my sanity and her safety I need something that can withstand her and these look great!!!
These are so cute and functional! My 8 week old is the master of getting his arms free and somehow manages to kick himself free from even the tightest muslin wrap swaddle!? I’d love to give one a go and see if Austin (and mummy) gets any more settled sleep.

I would love to try this with my baby due on 20th November. I’ve never been able to swaddle my kids right and they always pull arms out. This seems like the perfect thing to help us.
I would love to try this with my ex 32 weeker Freya! She’s 16 weeks old but her startle reflex is still very strong and she’s only just reached 5kg.
Love to try this for my 5 week old who cant sleep by himself this will help him feel secure and have a great nights sleep
I’d love to try this out because I get no help from my partner and I’m utterly exhausted, my eyes are constantly hurting like there is glass inside. I know one less stress would be gone by putting my son in a plum suit he’d get a full nights sleep for once as would I 😓
These are so cute!
We are past the stage of snuggly babies. A little sad about this lol these look amazing though!
I’ll love to be able to a mummy reviewer. If my second baby, due in a few weeks, is anything like my 18mo toddler who just escapes traditional swaddles, then I feel we might benefit greatly from this product! However we won’t know it until we have a chance to try it. So here’s to hoping we get chosen! Thank you for the opportunity.
I currently have a 14week old who will only sleep when swaddled. I believe I can give a honest review as I have swaddled each of my girls, three in total. I also have tried multiple different types of swaddled so have a good grasp of the different ranges and types available for comparison. I’d love to try another way of swaddling her.

I have had 2 escapees bow and still dealing with 1! My daughter refuses to sleep unless swaddled and we would love to try this suit out!
I would LOVE to review this swaddle suit! Lara (the lady in the photo) is a friend of mine and says they’re great! I need a swaddle that will actually stay put all night (and therefore hopefully give us some sleep). My little man is 10 days old today

My baby had a rough start to the world and we have since struggled to get to a place where bub is settled and content. We have tried manually swaddling, cuddling, wrapping and so far nothing is working. Perhaps these could be the answer to our struggles.

I need this.. or more like i need sleep!!
A baby that wiggles plus swaddles do not stay put!
We would love to review this swaddle! Luca is 9 weeks old and won’t go to sleep unless swaddled which is a problem because I am terrible at using a muslin cloth! I would give a very honest review as I know how confusing life with a newborn can be, so you need reviews you can trust.
