4 Awesome Kids Bed Designs

10/12/2013 By All Mum Said Leave a Comment

Kids spend an average eight hours a night in bed, which is a fairly long time laying on a piece of furniture. Many parents buy ordinary beds for their children, disregarding a style that represents their kid’s gender or their personality. Because kids are wide-eyed and imaginative, they don’t want plain steal bunk. They want a crazy and cool pirate ship bed that will make them the envy of all their friends. For inspiration to find the perfect awesome child’s bed, superamart.com.au/ have created a list of four awesome kids bed designs that your children will love, even after they’ve grown out of it!

Cinderella’s Pumpkin Carriage Bed

Every young girl who knows of Cinderella wants a pumpkin carriage to take them off to a fancy ball to meet their handsome prince. Unfortunately, that will only happen in their imagination…unless they have an amazing pumpkin carriage bed. Imagine a fairy tale parked right inside your room! Of course, this bed will only suit a room with adequate space, but it will turn your daughter into the belle of the ball every night when she goes to sleep.

The Birds Nest Bed

The birds nest bed is one of the more it’s-so-crazy-it’s-awesome children’s beds. Perfect for large rooms, this circular giant with a layering of comfy cushions is great for children who feel confined in average size beds, or who tend to sleep sideways and need more room to spread out. Its round shape allows so much room for tossing and turning, sprawled arms and legs, and even a little bit extra when the friend’s stay over, that it’s one of the most creative and useful children’s beds.

Hammock Bed

A hammock bed is great for children who prefer to sleep in smaller, enclosed spaces. They are generally used for younger children who sleep easier with a gentle rocking motion. Because hammock beds are designed to keep children on their back with their head elevated, it can help relieve any tossing and turning problems, and get the child into an easier sleeping routine. Hammock beds are great because they are completely portable and take less than five minutes to assemble. Of course, you will need to install a proper support mattress that is moulded to shape the hammock bed, and replace it as the child grows older.

Hanging Bed

A hanging bed is similar to a hammock bed, as it hangs suspended from the roof supported by chains. It is perfect for kids with small rooms, as it is does not take up any floor space, and makes the room seem much larger than it actually is. Because of the space it creates, you are able to build storage spaces of cubby houses underneath, or to store away toys.

Children’s beds should reflect their vivacious personality. These four awesome kids are creative and fun, and are sure to get your kids into bed without any nagging! Install a creative bed today, Your children will love it!

Christmas with Tiger Tribe + GIVEAWAY

01/12/2013 By All Mum Said 60 Comments

Still looking for Christmas presents for the kids? Or maybe you are super organised and have only got stocking stuffers left to get? I’m sitting on the fence with this one. I always think I have everything but at the last minute I’ll be reminded about something that I was supposed to have gotten for families and friends children but didn’t. Regardless how prepared you are for this festive season Tiger Tribe is definitely worth checking out because they have everything you could want for kids of every age; chances are you’ll find something that you ‘have’ to have. This wonderful Australian business was founded by a husband and wife team with 2 little tigers of their own, so they know first-hand what interests kids and encourages imagination and play.

There are so many wonderful products available that it would take me hours telling you about them all. They have wooden toys, balance bikes, magnetic play, dolls, tea sets, jewellery boxes, handbags, things that fly, Quut (awesome beach toys), party favours, educational activities, baby toys and gifts, and so much more. Because Tiger Tribe are a real family they understand the financial strain that is often placed on the average household and this shows with their prices; many of their items on the website are between $15-$25 making them great party presents. I have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to review a few of the Tiger Tribe range and am nothing but absolutely 100% impressed!

The Kit Pax – Pirate Ship allows your budding little builders and engineers to create their very own pirate ship from the ground up. This is suitable for ages 3+ as it is very easy to use. Children will have so much fun putting it together; with its simple and unique connection system they will truly feel like they are pirate masterminds. There are many Kit Pax Products available – hospital, fire station, police station, parking lot, doll house and rocket ship. Each one is made from eco-friendly plywood, sourced from plantation forests and uses non-toxic paints making this extremely safe for your little ones. There are hours of fun to be had making the Kit Pax – Pirate Ship.

What kid doesn’t love magnets? With the Magna Play range you will be able to travel in peace with the kids being kept happily amused. The Robots in Space Magna Play is perfect for the robot obsessed child in your life; they can create and recreate, mix and match to construct their very own designs of robot or build to match the cards image with the ability of magnets. Conveniently stored in a portable tin suitcase, this is the perfect travel companion as it’s always ready to go. The colours are bright, enticing and will provide endless enjoyment for little ones. There are also a wide range of Magna Play available – Treasure Island, Robots in Space, Secret Garden, Things that Go, Forest Fantasy, Creative Creatures, Dress Up Girls, Boys in Town & Jungle Safari.

Something for the girls? Easy done. Tiger tribe have recently released a gorgeous collection of rag dolls that are handcrafted from great quality soft cottons. They are made with the most attention to detail and each have their very own personality and style so each one is unique. With 8 beautiful dolls in total it makes it very hard to pick a favourite but I’d have to say Tilly comes in first for me closely followed by Poppy and Rosie. Each rag doll has an adorable outfit, styled hair and a gorgeous smile. My 5 month old has Tilly and absolutely loves it to death! Due to the quality that Tiger Tribe uphold with all of their products I didn’t hesitate in allowing my baby girl to have her doll before she was 1 year of age (the recommended age is 1+). It has been shown a lot of slobbery kisses, hand holding and hair pulling in its short life (all out of love) and she still looks like she has just been taken out of her stylish gift box. The soft fabrics are great because I don’t have to worry at all about it scratching Hadleys’ skin or hurting her gums when she gets over excited. Girls of all ages will enjoy the company of these adorable dolls.

There are also items that are perfect for stocking stuffers for both boys and girls!! Swirlies are soft, safe to throw and help develop hand eye co-ordination (they are similar to a frisbee). RRP $14.95. Tim the original Flying bird is a fantastic battery free product. He flaps his tear proof wings like a real bird as power is released from the elastic system. RRP $19.95. Fairy stamps are great for the girls; with easy-hold and comfortable grip stamps these are perfect for little hands and to help keep little fingers clean! RRP $19.95. There are even stocking stuffers available for babies (newborn and up) – my favourites are the cheekies! These cuddly little creatures were designed for maximum cuddle power. The Cheekies are available in 3 different styles and 5 different colours and are bound to be a bedtime favourite. RRP $27.95.

Looking for something plush this Christmas?

18/11/2013 By All Mum Said Leave a Comment

I have previously mentioned on the blog how shows from my childhood are making a comeback and I am now watching my children enjoy the same TV shows. Everything from Power Rangers and Smurfs to Ninja Turtles. As a child Ninja Turtles was one of my absolute favourite shows. Seriously how could it not be? They were awesome! Which is why I’m pretty excited by a toy that is out just in time for Christmas. The heroes in a half shell have gotten a makeover and have combined forces with Pillow Pet to create a wonderful snuggly pillow Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. They are available in all 4 turtles; Dontallelo (Purple), Leonardo (Blue), Raphael (Red) and Michaelangelo (Orange). As you can see my daughter loves the Leonardo pillow pet and will more than likely fight her big brother for it who is getting it for Christmas. It is so soft and cuddly though so I don’t blame her for loving it. You can find them at BIG W, Target, Toys R Us, Toyworld and online at www.mypillowpet.com.au. Cowabunga Dudes!

Something for the littlies? Well how about some gorgeous plush bumblebees from the ABC kids show The Hive. For those who haven’t heard of it – The Hive is focused on real life situations that happen every day like being friendly, spending time with family, playing and discovering the world. There are 4 of these cute and cuddly characters available; Barnabee, Buzzbee, Rubee and Postman Spider. I love how they are brightly coloured and each have their own little personality about them. You can find them in Myer, Toyworld and ABC stores with pricing starting at $9.99. There’s a Buzz Buzz Buzz in the hive!

Disclaimer: I received a pillow pet and 2x plush bees to write this review. No money was exchanged.

Learning Can Be Fun! + GIVEAWAY

05/11/2013 By All Mum Said 71 Comments

Do you remember back in the day when toys were made to last? When so many of the awesome playthings were made from wood? I LOVE WOODEN TOYS and always wanted to get some for my boys when they little but just couldn’t find any and if I did they were ridiculously expensive or poor quality. So unfortunately they missed out. That is of course until a wonderful blog buddy of mine opened her very own store that is full of – you guessed it – WOODEN TOYS!! That’s not the best bit though – they are extremely affordable. Woohoo!! There is a stigma for kids that learning is boring, dull and takes them away from actually playing which we all know isn’t always the case. The range at School of Mum is absolutely brilliant and combines fun with learning. The toys are educational yet exciting!! Catered to suit children of all ages these magnificent products are great quality and will provide hours, weeks and more than likely years of fun, learning and entertainment.

The variety of products don’t stop at classic wooden toys though; there really is something for every child. You will find items suited to babies, toddlers, school age with a wide range of clothing, personalised items, puzzles, teddies, clocks, memory and my all time favourite – wooden blocks – IT’S ALL THERE!! We have recently had an order arrive from the wonderful School of Mum and my kids couldn’t get into the bag fast enough. As you will see below some of the products can be fun so much fun for children that they don’t even realise they are learning. The memory game is made from wooden tiles with a letter of the alphabet and an Australian animal that begins with the same letter. Not only are they strengthening the memory part of the brain but they are also learning letters and animals.

Australian Alphabet Memory Game
$19.99

The clock puzzle is great for both my boys as we use it to help learn the time for my 6 year old and my 4 year old uses it to identify the numbers along with the concentration of working out the correct order of the numbers. There is a boy and girl version of this particular product.

Clock Puzzle
$3.50

For the babies in way of toys there are the Rattle and Roll Doves which are gorgeous, simple and easy to use. As bub moves or pulls it along the dove effortlessly rolls and rattles causing a great deal of excitement. This also comes in pink or blue.

Rattle n Roll Dove
$9.99

With the Bird Smackeroo there are hours of fun to had and most importantly it is great for building on hand /eye co-ordination. As you can see from the short video below it is very easy to use and great enjoyment for the kids.

My all time favourite product is the Educational Wooden Blocks, this might be because they take me back to my own childhood but at the bargain price of  $15 how can I say no? There is no much that can be done with these little babies; building, stacking, learning, the possibilities are endless.

Educational Wooden Blocks
$15

Now I’m sure by now you have worked out that I am very fond of this little shop and as a way of sharing some wonderful educational (and fun) products the extremely generous School of Mum has decided to offer a $50 voucher to one very lucky lucky Mad Mummas reader!! Just in time to get some great items for Christmas.

To enter all you have to do is follow the instructions on the rafflecopter below. Winner is decided based on skill and chance plays no part. Australian residents only! Sorry everyone else. **The mandatory instructions MUST be completed or your entry will be void!**

Get a Break From the Kids This Christmas Holidays

26/10/2013 By All Mum Said Leave a Comment

So as you are running around like mad preparing for Christmas with the kids, have you ever imagined the possibility that you could have all the fun, with someone else doing all the work for you? If you are tired of the Christmas experiences where you spend most of your time running after the kids, getting them food, drinks and keeping them occupied, while missing out on having any fun for yourself, then a cruise might be just what you need.

There is no time like the present to start planning your next Christmas with a family cruise where you will really have the chance to actually relax, sit back and smell the roses (or the fresh ocean air, as the case may be!). The great thing about cruises is that everything is catered for you, and Christmas cruises are that little bit more special because they have the whole Christmas thing going on, and you don’t have to lift a finger. On a cruise ship, the staff are trained for one purpose – to ensure that you are having the time of your life. This means that they will be in charge of looking after all aspects of the planning of the time. They have dedicated staff to look after your kids, which includes every aspect of keeping the little munchkins happy, whether that be with activities, baby sitting or food. They cater to children of all ages, so there are things to do for everyone, including you! For the older kids there are games and activities to suit them, and the younger ones will be delighted to be able to spend their days hanging out with kids their own age. No matter who you are, or what your interest is, a cruise will have something to suit every taste.

Christmas is supposed to be a time when the whole family gets together to enjoy each others company. But if you are finding that you are stressed and working like a dog to keep everyone happy then you aren’t going to be the best fun to be around (which kind of defeats the purpose of even having Christmas). On a Christmas cruise, you get to be everyone’s favourite person because you are super happy while the staff take the worries out of every aspect of organising and executing the big day. While the kids get to spend their time swimming, dancing, cooking, playing and generally doing whatever it is that kids like to do, you will be able to sit back, relax, and enjoy doing sweet nothing.

Aside from the fun of having everything done for you, the cruise will also pull into various ports along the way, where the kids will have the chance to see other cultures, explore exotic lands, and see the way other people live. They might even start to get ideas about living more simply, and maybe next Christmas they won’t have a present list as long as your arm, as they will have a better idea that ‘things’ are not such an important part of life! For info about Christmas cruises head to the Cruiseabout website.
