Hats Off To A Great Cause

The weather is heating up and summer is well on its way. With the sun coming up earlier and going down later, families are spending more time outside.

Unfortunately with the gorgeous weather also comes the potential for sun burn and sun cancer risks. Together with Bedhead Hats we are committed to helping parents take charge and protect not just your children’s skin but also your own.
Be the good example that will encourage sun safety to become a habit.

‘Protect the Potential’ initiative

We all know Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and yet so many of us ‘forget’ to protect ourselves against the harsh sun exposure.

DID YOU KNOW: Sun exposure in the first 10 years of life plays a large part in determining your lifetime potential for skin cancer?

As part of the ‘Protect the Potential’ initiative, Bedhead Hats will give away $100,000 of hats to newborns in Australia.

From the 15th September 2017, for each order placed online at Bedhead Hats, a newborn hat will be gifted or donated. Customers have the choice to gift the hat to someone they know in need or donate to charity aiding disadvantaged mothers and babies.

Bedhead Hats range for babies, toddler and kids

We recently had a few Bedhead Hats get delivered just in time for a trip to sunny central QLD and these hats were amazing! Both my girls (aged 4 & 1) rocked their hats every day for every kind of adventure.

They went swimming, hiking, playing at the park and even went fossicking! Their gorgeous hats kept them protected from the sun and unlike our previous attempts of getting them to keep their hats on their heads, not once did we have to ask. In fact, now my one year old insists on putting her hat on the moment she gets dressed. She loves them just as much as we do!

Why Bedheads Hats?

You might be wondering what makes Bedhead Hats better than their competitors…

Well let’s start with all Bedhead Hats have a UPF 50+ Excellent Protection rating. They are comfortable and made with a resilient stretch cotton that grows with the child. The brims stay firm out of the child’s eyeline while providing sun and glare protection and are made suit the hot Australian climate. These hats are also great for chucking in your handbag, wearing in a pram or baby carrier as they fold nicely.

There are a number of different patterns available and sizes from newborn babies to adults.
RRP $26.95 – $34.95.

I’d love to win hats that won’t fly off. No more would I be chasing hats as they take off in the wind and when I think I got it, the wind picks up and blows it away again. Bedheads have what we need – secure straps and a place to write our name on so our hats will always come back ☺
Love the bucket joey print xs and the fleecy winter beanie L. Aussie animals are our favourite of all.

Hats are one of the most important clothing for anyone. Australia is heat that burns, skin that is destroyed and where cancer lucks. To protect our children and teach them while they are young, that it is essential to us all to be protected.

Id love to win one of these hats for my daughter. Her preschool has a hat policy where the children are only allowed to wear bucket hats. Whilst I fully approve of this sunsafe policy , the poor thing has a hideous blue “school hat” from kmart with a minnie mouse iron transfer I used to “pretty it up” :/
Im sure she would appreciate an actual nice hat like a bedhead hat!

Best tip is too insist and don’t ever never back down. My daughter runs crying when I say hat’s on and I make sure when she returns she has a hat or stays inside. I also find my 50+spray for a quick arm, leg and neck cover is great and they don’t mind as it takes just seconds.

With 2 pale, red headed boys, I know how important sun protection is. It’s so damn hard to find decent hats in the shop that provide great protection not just look cool. I love that Bedhead Hats completely cover kids necks, plus the sides overlap to cover the ears comfortably.

Thankfully just in time for the hot weather my son has started to like hats. We are yet to find a suitable wide brimmed hat and the BedHead hat range looks fabulous.

Since I have dark skin and I’m originally from the UK I’m a bit forgetful with being sun smart!! If I had a cute hat like this for my daughter I’d never forget to put it on her!

It’s a challenge to find hats for kids that are trendy, provide full sun protection, that fit little heads. Bonus points for any hat that can’t be pulled off either!

My tip is to have the essentials in view. We have hats hanging on the backs of the chairs by the back door as is the sunscreen by the door. It doesn’t take long to form a habit before we head outside everyday. The kids remind each other now too. I also have my toddler in long sleeve tshirt tops until it’s way too hot to wear them. The longer his skin is protected, the better.

I want to win because i prefer my kids have a wide brimmed hat on when outside to better protect them from the sun.

My biggest sun smart tip to to always have a tube of sunscreen in my hand bag. So that where ever we go or if we need to top up on sunscreen we always have it with us. Also handy to leave a hat for everyone in the car as well.
