Hours Of Fun With Hasbro Board Games

Hasbro board games giveaway | Twister and Trivial Pursuit

I love board games. I’m not going to lie, I feel pretty lame saying that out loud but it’s the truth.

I particularly love those games that have been around since I was a kid (most even longer than that). You know the old classics – Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee and Scattergories? I mean seriously, how can you not?

The next gen of board game fans

We all want to pass something on to our kids and luckily (or unluckily) for them, they have inherited my love of board games. This is great because my husband is not a fan and so now I have people to play them with again. This also means that come Christmas time, it is new board game time!

Hasbro board games | Twister

I was on the search for Scattergories this year because the kids have never played it but so far I have not been able to find it. Then I got an email about the 50 year anniversary of Twister and realised that my kids have never played that either. I couldn’t actually believe that it was 50 years old and still as popular as ever!

I will be wrapping this up for my kids and putting it under the tree this year. It will result in a lot of fun and no doubt its fair share of fighting, if my siblings and I are anything to go by. It would always end in one of us crying but it also gave us hours of fun!

If you and your kids are Twister fans – help Hasbro celebrate by sharing your twisty pics on social media using #TWISTER50.

One for the grown-ups

You will be hard pushed finding a board game I won’t play but I do love a good trivia game! The only problem is that they aren’t released enough so the questions are always ridiculously out of date or no longer relevant to the times.

Hasbro board games giveaway | Trivial Pursuit

Thankfully Hasbro has rebooted the old classic Trivial Pursuit to reflect questions and fads significant to the 2000’s. Now here are some questions I might be able to win answer correctly. A bit of pop culture, tech, sports and of course food, are right up my alley. I will be honest and say that we typically only play trivia types games when we have a get together and there is lots of food and drinking involved so we don’t tend to score, we use it as more of a drinking game. But we are catching up with family and friends and having a great time with heaps of fun and laughter so I think that makes up for it!

Not everyone is interested in board games but if you are, you should absolutely enter the giveaway below to WIN yourself one of these awesome Hasbro board games!

Though technically not a board game as such
There’s one great game I enjoy very much
Uno is the game that my family and I adore
It seems that I always land a Draw 4!
Reverse, Skip, Wild and Draw Two
Ensure that lots of fun will ensue
From youngest to oldest, we all join in
There’s lots of laughs as we see who will win!!

I always loved monopoly as i was the banker when my brother and i played, however he always seemed to win! Lots of great memories playing that game as a kid! Cant wait until mine are old enough to play too, still a few more years before that happens!

I’ll give you a clue to guess my favorite game… it can be played in the conservatory, by the light of a candlestick, with a group of quirky friends who have a rainbow of names. You guessed it- CLUEDO!

  5. Samara McRae

Cluedo. I absolutely loved solving the murders and working out who did it. It’s probably why I love watching all the crime shows on tv 🙂

Hungry Hippos, I think it’s fun,
    Simple rules for little ones,
It’s a bit loud but the kids enjoy,
    Perfect for girls and boys!

Twisting, giggling and laughing with glee-
Watching friends and family fall all over me!
Afternoon games and games just because we could-
Enjoying good company, like kids should!
Right hand green and left foot blue,
Right foot red- hilarious to do!
When I think of fun times, I remember Twister fun!
It’s a game I’d share with my kids, if I won!

    We just loved Operation,
Being a Dr with no education,
Removing funny bone from her arm,
And cross you’re fingers you don’t hear the alarm!

Pictionary. For some reason my wife and I kick absolute arse when we play against family or friends, clearly we’re not only of same heart but of same mind too.

Backgammon, because my dear old Dad taught me the tricks, how to play to win, each time, every time, and I do, unless I’m playing with him and then it truly is game on.

  14. Karina Lee
    10/12/2016 / 11:35 pm

Risk – the world conquest game as it is the only way i will conquer the world you see
and in the process beat my hubby (take that!!!) while still acting so gallantly 🙂
it is a great board game that makes you use strategies to win
and so fun to play as sometimes hubby gets grumpy when he loses he wants to throw it in the bin 🙂

  23. Anne

Battleship – such a simple concept yet a game of strategy, enough to frustrate anyone playing!

  24. Rory James
    13/12/2016 / 8:23 pm

Has to be monopoly. Loved playing it as a kid. It was always so competitive and there was always a race to get the best land or to buy one just to stop another player from buying it and putting houses up.

  25. Anna T
    14/12/2016 / 9:22 am

I love Scrabble. It always cracks me up when the kids make up words that are clearly not proper words but try to convince me that they are.

  26. Rachel K-N
    14/12/2016 / 9:55 am

Scrabble. As my husband is ‘the worst speller’ ever, I can get away with misspelling words and he doesn’t pick up on it. I can cheat and he doesn’t even know it!! (unless he reads this of course)

  27. Aleisha Sullivan
    14/12/2016 / 12:35 pm

    Celebrity Heads.
It turns the most serious of people into a giggling mess.
The fun we had as kids guessing what character we had has never been forgotten!

  28. Mellie
    14/12/2016 / 1:24 pm

Getting tangled over top and underneath of family and friends,
Hoping you don’t spin up a colour that will leave you thinking that the position you’ll need to get in is impossible!
I love that when the mass of tangled arms and legs finally gives way and we all fall down laughing!!!

  29. Catherine D
    15/12/2016 / 7:28 am

As a child it was hungry hippos, but as an adult you still can’t beat a competitive game of monopoly

    15/12/2016 / 3:17 pm

    Beautiful art,
    calligraphied Japanese;

    ’tis meditative, relaxing:

    for all ages, ‘newbies’,
    unites family:

    Mum, Maths teacher,
    enjoys its design;
    simplicity Father likes!

Mouse trap! We’d spend ages creating the perfect set up, and it was a time when both my sister and I would actually get along as we’d giggle seeing the mouse get caught

  32. Claire
    15/12/2016 / 10:20 pm

Monopoly is my favourite because it feels great to have so much money in my hand at once!

I loved letters and words and my son loves them now too and we adore playing scrabble. We made our own book of boards and took the letters on our last driving trip and picked letters then wrote them in. It played like usual but the written letters don’t slide off in the car. It’s almost 3000km to Grandma’s and we head off again in a few weeks.

  34. 18/12/2016 / 6:32 pm

“What is your favourite board game of all time?”
Pictionary! I used to love playing it with my sister, but you really need more people to play and no-one ever really wanted to play with us.

  35. Kaz Purtill-Wright
    18/12/2016 / 8:29 pm

Back in the 1980’s my parent bought me for my birthday the sale of the century game, good ole Tony Barber. I remember so many fun memories playing with my parents and/or grandparents. I am an only child so board games were something the adults and I could play together to have fun back in the day.

  36. Alex Eleftheriou
    18/12/2016 / 9:14 pm

As a young male teenager Twister provided much enjoyment when played with other female friends.

  37. AmberB
    18/12/2016 / 11:52 pm

It’s actually Twister. I have never owned it myself, just played it at a lot of parties. It’s great fun for kids as well as adults (it’s hilarious playing with adults after a few wine!s).

We loved card games especially “cheat”
It was sooooo naughty this game of deceit!
We’d try so hard to be discreet,
    Giggling helplessly in our seats!

  42. Kristy
    20/12/2016 / 7:24 pm

Monopoly it brings out the best and worst about people

  43. Jo

  44. Kelly Taylor

My favourite board game of all time would have to be Cluedo.
Professor Plum, in the library with the candle stick. 😀
