A couple of years ago I upgraded my car. I was so excited that I was going to get a brand new one (not new to me – actually brand new) that it didn’t even bother me I was only given two options to pick from. I’m sure I could have persisted and got something else but it is here nor there. I was getting a new car! I wanted something that was small but still big enough to fit everything in it that I needed for a family of four. I purchased a Toyota Corolla which was perfect for what I wanted. A couple of months later I found out I was pregnant with baby number 3. Now I needed to fit 3 car seats and everything else that came along with a new baby; pram, nappy bag, etc.
I think it is pretty safe to say the Rolla aka Red Rocket was fairly crammed. Still practical but full. Fast forward to the present and my car is still the perfect run-about. It gets us all the places we need to go on a day to day to basis however we can’t take it camping, big days out with the family or four wheel driving (let’s be honest it barely goes on seal dirt roads) and when it does rattles like Tow Mater from Cars.
It’s a contender for upgrade time!
When it is time to upgrade my car again, which will be within a few years as the kids grow and space lacks even more; I will be researching a lot more and choosing a car I want. A car with enough space the kids can have leg room and not sit thigh to thigh but remain compact enough that I don’t feel like I’m driving a truck (my husband has a Ford Ranger and it is way too big for me, I cannot see over the dash!). I want something with luxury features but that doesn’t cost a fortune and most importantly it must be a manual. I have already started looking into cars, features and their manufactures to see what they offer and so many of them don’t offer ‘soccer mum cars’ in manuals. Why is that? Land Rover does but not many of the other commonly purchased compact SUV’s do. Do car manufacturers think people only want automatics? This is a pet peeve of mine in case you haven’t noticed.
What car do you have? Do you love it, hate it? What is your dream car?

I have a Mazda CX7 and love it. My only wish is that it was self cleaning! 🙂
