Miomee products review + Giveaway

Regardless how you plan to feed your baby the bottom line is they will need to fed. Whether it be bottle, breast or a mix of both. Sometimes circumstances mean we are unable to do this how we intended to and adjustments are made to make baby feeding easy. For example; a mum returning to work may require to pump milk to continue breastfeeding or swap to formula, your baby may have attachment issues making it harder to feed resulting in a bottle. Your milk supply may not be able to keep up with the appetite of your baby or you may just want a night off. Whatever the issue may be there are a wide of products that can make feeding your baby easy and stress free. I have been using Miomee products for Poppet since she born and they are great quality, my first ever Miomee products purchase was their nipple shields and I must say they were an absolute life saver!! If you haven’t heard of Miomee or used their products before I will share my thoughts on a few with you and if you already use them you will be nodding along as you read – did I mention you can WIN an amazing prize pack as well valued at $160.00!!

 Miomee Single Electric Breast Pump

This pump is easy to use, it’s light weight and it’s pretty quiet compared to others I’ve used making it convenient to use whilst bub is in the same room. I always found I could express more if they were near me, possibly some strange hormonal thing? But it worked. One of my favourite features is the timer that counts backwards so you know how long you have been expressing for and making it easy to know when to swap sides. It is simple to assemble and easy to clean which is a must when buying breast pumps. My only negative to this pump is that it cannot be run on batteries and must have mains power.

Miss H has only really taken to bottles in the past couple of months as I have begun to wean her from full time breastfed to mix fed. These bottles are great for reducing wind and because the teats simulate that of a mothers lactating breast the transition from one to the other is very smooth. I love how wide the necks are on these bottles because it makes preparing bottles and cleaning them an absolute breeze. My only issue with these bottles are that when Miss H is drinking from them milk will often leak out of thee air spout onto her face.

The first drinking cups are fantastic because they come with 2 different spouts plus they can also use the Miomee teats making it functional 3 ways. It has handles making it easy to your little to hold on their own and it is shake proof, spill proof and BPA FREE. This is one of my favourite sippy cups for Miss H.

The storage containers are fantastic and so convenient! They can be stacked on top of each other or slipped into a bottle for easy storage when out and about. They come with a couple of different lids so you can decide what works best for you. These are used every few days in our house and I cannot fault them in the slightest!! The lids are great for when you have expressed milk because you can leave it in the bottle and just screw the lid on and stack them in the fridge.

This poor little fish has had the workout of its life these past few weeks with Miss H teething and I am so grateful. It has been amazing in helping soothe her sore and lumpy gums without me having to anything more than put it in the fridge to get it cold. Wonderful product!!

Learning with LeapFrog

I have shared my love of LeapFrog here on the blog a few times now and that’s because it is a brand that just keeps giving. I love that they continually produce products to suit a range of ages and encourage learning from the start. Mr 5 has a LeapReader that he uses daily and we recently added a new book to the collection that is proving to be very popular with not only him but every other child that visits; Doc McStuffins: The New Girl. The book encourages good vocabulary skills and healthy habits while educating children about cultures, health and social skills.

The fun new AlphaPup aimed for 1-3 year olds is a fantastic product that teaches the alphabet, phonics and is great for improving gross motor skills. It is full of colour and has a range of settings for sound that include: the alphabet, singing and dog phrases. Miss H loves pulling this behind her she crawls along and gets so much joy from the bright coloured buttons. The AlphaPup is going to be a hit in our house for a long time yet.

Like many homes around Australia we seem to constantly have ABC for Kids playing in the background and keeping our little ones amused. With the new addition of Toby’s Travelling Circus to the already much loved channel Roadshow Entertainment has released the new kids ABC For Kids DVD Toby’s Travelling Circus: Roll Up. Roll Up!

There has been a lot of excitement in our house over this release and I admit it’s not only from the kids. The fun and engaging animated series is aimed at pre-school children however it is enjoyed by older and younger ages. The DVD consists of 8 episodes full of circus fun and antics which means it is great for keeping your kiddies amused when you need that 5 minutes of quiet time, well it’s actually 80 minutes if you want to get excited too. My boys (aged 5 & 7) have been watching this on repeat and at $19.95 this is a great investment! It has only recently hit the shelves (5th March) and is proving very popular.

Clowns everywhere! This attempt turned out a little creepy (just quietly).

Toby at age 7, is the worlds’ youngest ringmaster and leads his circus as it travels on exciting adventures. Toby and his friends teach and learn how to make the impossible possible while overcoming hurdles and putting on a fantastic show every night.

Smooze it up

Summer is now over but the weather is still warm so there are still a few months to enjoy some icy cold treats that 100% natural and tasty. I have shared Smooze with you here before and thought I’d let you know that they now have 4 delicious flavours:

These are so versatile and can be used many ways. First is obvious – as an ice-block, the kids love them and are great as an after school snack. They can be added to drinks in lieu of ice for a tropical flavour or in smoothies along with in the kids lunch boxes. These offer a hit of refreshing coconut flavour that the kid in us all will love.

Vacuum cleaner maintenance

Up until recently my 7 year old vacuum cleaner hadn’t had a service, or any vacuum cleaner maintenance. Ever. Yep I am that person who thinks a machine can keep going and going and maintain the same quality of work it did when it was new. I have now discovered since the near death of my Dyson that a service can bring it back to a well working sucker that is ready to take on the mess of children once again. Now that I think about it, it is just like servicing a car. If you skip the maintenance it eventually stops running smoothly.

The kind service man and engineer Chris who works at Dyson emailed me through pictures about the journey my vacuum cleaner took while in their care.  Here is the adventure of my Dyson DC24.

 One your machine is received; our engineer Chris assessed it top to bottom for anything that shouldn’t be.

The Ball, which houses the motor of your machine is removed, and given a thorough cleaning. 

The brushbar is removed, the cleanerhead is cleaned, then the brushbar is replaced with a brand new brushbar.

The cyclone assembly is cleaned out and the bin washed.

Both filters are replaced as both a hygiene precaution and to ensure the machine will work as good as new.

 

Towards the end of the service, the cleaner head of the machine is removed, and the suction is tested to ensure it is as strong as day one.

Finally, we run numerous electrical safety checks to ensure the machine is safe to leave us.

Once the machine has been fully repaired and tested, it is then ready to leave us, to provide you with more years of service.

The convenience of having it delivered back to my door was great and I wasn’t without my vacuum for long which is great. They were fast, efficient and now my cleaner works great. The customer service was brilliant, they emailed me each time something new was going on (eg. received, being worked on, dispatched).
