Breathe with Ease this Winter + GIVEAWAY

Anyone with little kids whether they are a baby, toddler or child will know that when they get sick and their nose is blocked it can be a nightmare to help them breathe easily. The blocked nose not only causes pain and irritation for the child but it ultimately affects the parents as well; often resulting in lack of sleep, the sense of helplessness and often frustration at not being able to help.

There are many different ways you can relieve a child’s blocked nose. Steam from shower, if they are old enough to blow it out or a nasal aspirator. With so many nasal aspirators on the market now it is hard to know which one worth buying. I’ll be honest, I saw the ones at my local baby shop that require the parent to physically suck on the end of a tube. I thought it was a joke! Needless to say I passed on that one. Many others you see require you to empty and clean the ‘snot catching’ part which potentially holds bacteria. So I passed on those as well. After searching and searching with no luck (I have been searching since B1 was born, he is now 8) technology has clearly advanced and Oricom have created the best hygienic electronic nasal aspirator available and have been generous enough to provide me one to review and another one to giveaway to one of All Mum Said fans.

Oricom CLEANOZ Nasal Aspirator

I love the Oricom CleanOz nasal aspirator (as much as one can love a gadget designed to suck out snot). There are so many things that make it great and stand out from others on the market. It is so unbelievably quick and easy to use! This is a must when you have sick little ones as their tolerance is often slim to none so the job needs to be done swiftly. The Oricom CleanOz nasal aspirator allows you to unblock stuffy noses in a matter of seconds by simply covering a small hole with your index finger and pressing the button with your thumb. You then release the hole. Your child now has a clean, unblocked nose.

The Oricom CleanOz is hygienic which is another must in my book. There is no transferring germs and trying to make sure you have killed them all before using it again. The tips are single use which means you use and throw away. Replace with a new tip for the next stuffy nose, these have been designed to be easily inserted and removed. The flexible silicone tips can be purchased in boxes of 10 from your local baby store or online at Oricom for $19.95.

Requiring only 3 AAA batteries it is cheap to run. It isn’t overly loud which means it won’t scare your little one and because it is so quick and easy to use, you have finished before they even know what you are doing. The RRP for the Oricom CleanOz nasal aspirator is $69.95 which may seem like a lot but when you can use it for years and relieve your little ones stuffy nose and restore peace to the home it is absolutely worth it! I just wish they had released them years ago because it would have saved me a lot sleepless nights.

Oricom Non-Contact Thermometer Review + GIVEAWAY

Every parent knows the difficulties you can experience when your child is sick. They either want to cling to you and not let go; not allowing for toilet breaks, food, basically space of any kind. Or not want anyone to touch them at all. Both of these can make it hard when you need to take their temperature especially if they are young.

I cannot speak for every child but I can say that 2 of mine never stayed still long enough to get an accurate reading from the underarm or oral thermometers. They would get frustrated and pull it out. Now that they are older they understand the importance however I’m sure Poppet (almost 2 years old) is going to go through the same “don’t touch me – why aren’t you holding me – I said don’t touch me – I want cuddles” phase her brothers did. Which is why I am welcoming the Oricom non-contact thermometer into my home with open arms (wide open arms!).

Oricom Non-Contact Thermometer

The Oricom FS300 aka Oricom Non-Contact Infrared digital Thermometer is so great that it is hard to express in words its magic. I would go as far as saying it is the best digital thermometer on the market! I absolutely love this thermometer because as the name suggests it requires no contact. But better than that; it is fast. It takes less than 2 seconds to give you an accurate reading. Oricom recommends that you test on the forehead (temple) or behind the earlobe at 2-3cm away for a reliable reading. This thermometer is extremely versatile for general use as it allows measurements including body, room and surface temperature.

The Oricom non-contact thermometer is smaller than I expected but the size is perfect, not too big and not too small. It is an ideal pocket size that you can take it just about anywhere with you.

I absolutely love how easy it is to use. You can set it have a quiet beep when measurement is taken or make it silent. It stores the last 32 measurements for your convenience and it is as simple as pushing the start button to get the temperature of your child. It really couldn’t be more easy. The large backlit LCD display allows for easy viewing day or night. 

Due to the fact it requires no contact, it is hygienic and eliminates risk of virus transfer. This is a huge selling point for me as I don’t want bugs and illnesses being passed to everyone in the family. The thermometer requires only 2x AAA batteries and as I have come to expect from Oricom, it comes with a 12 month warranty for the unlikely event you have any issues with it. Gum and Tooth Care for Baby’s.

I always wondered why some toddlers/kids hated having their teeth brushed as both my boys loved it. They would brush their teeth and I would go over them to make sure they hadn’t missed any. My daughter however is not a huge fan. She is more than happy to brush them herself but when it comes time for me to brush what she hadn’t, she clamps her mouth shut. I think she feels she has already done it so there is no need for me to, however gum and tooth care for baby’s and toddlers is extremely important and should start early on. The sooner the better because it promotes healthy dental habits from a young age. The importance of gum and tooth care for baby’s should not be underrated.

Everloc Suction Systems + GIVEAWAY

I have talked about the Everloc Suction Systems Xpressions range previously on the blog and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the results and effectiveness of the products. Today I will be sharing a couple more of the Everloc Suction Systems Xpressions range and you will also have the chance to win yourself some.

Everloc Medium Shelf

This is by far my favourite of the Everloc Suction Systems Xpressions range. Like the other Everloc products it is installed within a matter of minutes but it looks tidy, it sits well and most importantly it holds my most important shower items with ease. It is the perfect size for what I need at: 27cm x 17cm x 16cm and would look great in the bathroom, laundry or kitchen.

Everloc Double Corner Basket

This is larger in size and obviously caters to holding more. I myself wouldn’t load it with full products but if you put the full bottles towards the back in the corner it holds better. Anything lighter can sit with no issues. I am using this in the kids bathroom as they cannot reach the shower niche properly. This double corner basket allows them to put their soap, shampoos, cups, etc. and not have any excuse to leave them on the shower floor. Dimensions are:  22cm x 27cm x 41cm.

DreamBaby Bed Rail Review + Giveaway

There comes a point when every toddler transitions from a cot to a big bed and most parents biggest concern is that their child will fall out. Well that and will they actually stay in bed. Poppet has made this transition and thankfully she loves her new ‘big girl’ bed. We did however need to get a safety rail as the bed isn’t exactly low and should she have fallen out, it would have hurt. Dreambaby heard that Poppet was going from the cot to a bed and kindly offered me one of theirs. Below you can read the Dreambaby Bed Rail review and of course because Dreambaby are so generous they have offered another one for a giveaway!

DreamBaby Bed Rail Review

As I would expect from Dreambaby, the quality is second to none. This particular bed rail is an impressive 109 cm wide and 45.5 cm high. The odds of your little one falling out with this rail are pretty slim. As you can see in the picture of Poppets’ bed, there isn’t much of the bed left to fall from.

This is extremely easy to install and as it is already assembled in the box all you have to do is put it in the required spot and the safety anchors hold it in place. Requiring no tools to fit it means it is easily portable. One of my favourite features is the breathable mesh. My daughter moves around a lot when she sleeps and her face often pushes against the rail but thanks to the breathable mesh she can still breathe and I don’t fear her suffocating.

The  Dreambaby bed rail actually folds down as well which makes for easy bed making however this doesn’t suit all beds. The bed Poppet has isn’t quite high enough that it can be left down when she is not sleeping but it isn’t far off. Again, makes for easy bed making though.
