Cute Baby / Toddler Bedroom Makeover

The moment comes for every parent when they have to let go of the last remaining hint of baby items. For me, it is generally the cot. And in this moment my baby, officially becomes a toddler!

I have just performed my last ever baby / toddler bedroom makeover. It is a bit sad but also exciting. The end of an era when it comes to babies for me. There is officially no more babies in my house.

The baby / toddler bedroom makeover

When transforming Audrey’s bedroom from a sweet little baby room into a cute toddler bedroom, I wanted the furniture to remain smaller in size. Like a toddler bed instead of a single. The reason behind this was that Audrey’s bedroom is a lot smaller than the other kids’ rooms. When she was born I turned my upstairs office into a nursery so that I could hear her at night. She will stay in this room until she is a little bigger and then will more than likely share with her big sister.

Together with the help of Childsmart, I was able to create the perfect little girls room. Here are some of the changes:

Cot to bed

Naturally the cot to bed was the most obvious change. We unbolted the cot and replaced it with a Worlds Apart Patchwork Toddler Bed. This little bed is sturdy and comes with a lifetime guarantee on the structure. If the cute factor doesn’t win you over, the guarantee will. I love that it has the protective sides on it to stop little ones falling out because she still moves around a lot when she sleeps.

The only issue we ran into with this toddler bed was that our cot mattress was not the right size. We struggled to find one that was the right fit and the closest we came was 10cm short. If I had realised sooner that Childsmart actually sell the right sized mattress I could have avoided this issue.

Change table to bedside table

Audrey is still in nappies however we are starting to toilet train so keeping the change table wasn’t essential. We thought replacing it with a little princess beside table would be perfect as it gives her somewhere she can put her water at night.

The construction is fairly strong and the little basket drawer can be turned around to show Cinderella, Belle and Rapunzel or the word ‘princess’ with a crown.

Nappy storage to desk

My kids love to read, write and draw pictures so including a desk into the toddler bedroom makeover was a brilliant idea. It really adds to the cute factor of the room when I walk in and see Audrey or Haddie reading at the desk. Both my 1 year old and 4 year old can sit comfortably at it.

The Worlds Apart Disney Princess Desk & Stool are easy to put together and are durable. This is a must have for any princess lovers bedroom or playroom!

toddler sleeping cocalo blankets

There is so much cute Manchester available that it makes it hard to choose just one. I am a huge lover of all things soft and snuggly so I am a sucker for impulse buys when I see them. For this toddler room makeover however, I thought a Cocalo Pinwheel Quilted Comforter would match the toddler bed perfectly. It is very lightweight which will be perfect in the warmer months and for winter I plan on pairing it with the matching Cocalo Blanket Chenille. It is so soft and would also make the perfect pram blanket.

As you can see from the pictures, we have reused some of the existing furniture as to not waste it and let’s face it, they are adorable timeless pieces!

You can read about the other items here:
Wooden rocking horse
Brio kitchen
Minnie Mouse toy storage

I am on the lookout for a gorgeous mat to go in the centre of the bedroom to tie the whole room together. If you know of a place that I can get one from, please share with me below!

We have an almost two year old and I’m thinking about moving her from a cot to a toddler bed. Do you find your toddler stays in the bed? Also, how do you keep her in the blankets/ bedding? We’ve tried different combinations of bedding and my daughter always gets out and ends up cold (looks like yours does too!)

Most rugs and mats I’ve bought in recent years have been from garage sales or op shops! I just find the price of a new one is more than I’m willing to value the item.

Aww what a cute room! We’ve yet to do that with our eldest – we really should convert his cot to a big boy bed and make his room a little more grown up!

Thank you for the link up!

Hope you have had a lovely weekend 🙂

The room is adorable! It’s almost time to transform my youngest to a bed and make her room a toddler room and not a nursery. It’s bittersweet as they grow.
