The Year That Was… 2016

Well hasn’t 2016 been a whirlwind? It has ended as fast as it came.
So much has happened this year that I don’t even know where to begin. I hear so many people around me saying that 2016 can rot in hell but I don’t think it has been that terrible for me.
Here is a quick recap of 2016
- My baby turned into a toddler that knows what she likes and what she really doesn’t. (Terrible two’s will be fun!)
She had her first birthday and showed me just how fast this year is passing me by. I wrote her a letter so I could look back on this time in years to come.
- I took over the Mummy Mondays blog linkup. The very kind Eva from The Multitasking Woman handed over the reins and I could not be happier with the amount of support everyone has given me.
- We went on an epic road trip from the Hunter Valley to Nindigully. Why? For an epic burger! Check it out here!
- I had some fantastic guest posts from bloggers feature.
♦ Want To Work From Home? Here’s A Warts And All Reality Check! – Dana Flannery.
♦ 5 Foodie Ways to Get the Kids Through Witching Hour – Simone Emery.
♦ How To Prepare For Baby When You Don’t Know The Gender – Rebecca Bowyer.
♦ Four days of bliss – Dana.
- We enjoyed being brand ambassadors for Childsmart. This will continue into 2017 so you will get to enjoy and discover a whole new range of quality kid’s toys.
- I became a regular contributor of Little Red Compass.
- My husband and I started a blog to document and share our experiences, adventures and tips to travelling with kids. I would love for you to check it out at Happy Go Travel. We are also on Instagram and Facebook so if you would like to help us get it off the ground by popping over and giving us a follow, that would be amazing!

In a few short weeks I turn 30; how did that happen? I swear I was only just turned 25.
2017 is sure to be a great year.

Gosh the year has flown….and I remember you taking over Mummy Mondays and that seems like yesterday too. I thank you for your blog and support as I continue my link up on Mondays into 2017. I will be blogging but not every day as was the case when I started in 2015 and went on till 1 November. Realising I could stop and I did not ‘need’ to blog each day was good because now I blog with more purpose rather than as a ‘have to.’ Will definitely check out your other blog and Happy New Year..and almost your birthday! Denyse x
Oh I didn’t know you had a travel blog too! I have a MUCHLY neglected one that is going through an overhaul over the next month or so. I still use the intstagram account though; I’ve followed you on there from my travel IG.
Thanks for the mention. I missed that road trip post – epic. What a feast! Wishing you a Happy new year too!
Thanks for linking up Kell! Next week’s prompt is fave post of 2016 making the first link up for 2017 easy peasy! Denyse #lifethisweek
I’ll have to check out your travel blog too!
It sounds like you’ve had a good 2016! All the best for an even better 2017!

What a great reflection of the year! I had big plans for this year but then I got a lovely surprise and found out I was pregnant. This was a great Easter gift but then that has pretty much consumed the rest of the year with morning sickness etc. Now I have a 2 months old baby with Colic. I wonder what I’ll be reflecting about next year. Hopefully the year will go better, Its hard to think my little baby might be a walking toddler this time next year!
My highlight would have to be biting the bullet and booking a family trip to Switzerland in July next year. An epic adventure it will be meeting my partners family. A huge amount to save up for so we are cutting right back on spending.
Two of my highlights for 2016 is starting my blog and traveling to Japan!!! Bring on 2107!
